Asus A8R-MVP Discussion

[color=black]This is just <insert your own creative swear words here> unbelievable. I am so angry it's beyond comprehension. Why? Check this out... I just sold my FX-53 processor, my older A8V Deluxe mobo and a ton of other stuff to break even on purchasing an AMD FX-57. It runs native 2.8 GHz which is of course much higher than the FX-53 @ 2.4 GHz. I am able to run this processor on air, with no increase in voltage at 2.95 GHz - rock solid.[/color]

[color=black]So, I run my benchmark tests again - and look. The cpu bug is so bad, that even this brand new, super fricking fast processor cannot make up the chasm created by this crap motherboard + BIOS.[/color]

[color=black]It is infuriating they sent a BIOS to ATI that fixed this problem 3 WEEKS AGO, and we have yet to see it. [/color]

[color=black]What are you looking at in the link below? CAT 5.13 with AMDF FX-53 runs faster in cpu bound games than an overclocked FX-57 that has MORE than 1/2 a Gig of processor speed plus extra cache over the FX-53. Look at the cpu scores:[/color]

1) asus doesnt monitor thier forums! Says support personel left unnamed, source unamed.
I belive this as they nv make "offical posts"

2) thier slow to respond to emails and they get hit with a flood of them as you imagine.
you have to get a hold of the right peoples emails to get reponces or creat a support
ticket in the support system.

I'm supprised they havm't releasd a beta bios or anything for the last 4 mounths now.
Not to mention pulling bios 402

you mean the beta bios it was leaked, but yu loose on on important cpu unicde updates
as well as say suppirt fr raid 5 and other fixes they made since release. But you actully get what they advertised in th way of bios options!!!

I've gotten a hold of it and it still had problems. I still coundn't run in 1T and vcore was still limited. Stick with 0402 until Asus releases a newer one.

This is completely rediculous, within the next few weeks, I'm going to be ordering that ECS KA1 MVP Board. To heck with anything ASUS. I've got the sound skipping/stuttering issue and it won't go away.

I'm not waiting for that so called new bios, I'm getting a different motherboard.

Neon... I have tech support e-mails that I submitted back in JANUARY, and February, and March, and April. When I say webform... I didn't mean their forums. I meant when you go to their tech support site and fill in the information and it gets sent via webform to Asus. So you see, there is no excuse for this, except utter disdain for their customers.

Hello everyone,

Yes, I too share everyone's problem and unfortunately I offer no solution, but I do have it worse than most of you. I can't even run 1T at 222x2mhz ram. BF2 Crashes to Desktop after 15 minutes of trying. At 2T(242.5mhzx2) it crashes to desktop after 20-1hr. I can't even overclock my 4000+ clawhammer passed 2.667... I did however manage to contact ASUS's marketing manager and was then able to contact the head of the tech support department about the issue. I sent him an email with everyone's problems, including mine, and he claims to respond within 3 days. I will let you all in on what was said.

Thought I might put my 2 cents in.
Well have had the A8R-MVP for some several months now. I must say it is one of the best motherboards I have used. Had a FX57 (3.1mhz /1T) on water with Muskin 2G 2326 on a raid0 with x1800crossfires. No issues very stable. Swapped the CPU for a opte165 - and can run BF2 at 9x290(1T). Even completed a FM06 run at 9x312 (1T). Kind of a monkey see monkey do over clocker - I don't know enough to be too picky but I really like the board. I swore off Asus boards a while ago but I sure have enjoyed this one.

I can not get my ocz XTC's pc 4000 to run 1t at 9x300 on the 166 divider, I currently run it at the 183 divider ddr 540 but at 2t. i think at 166 divider it was at 490 would not run 1t

did you change any settings in memory section? anything i could change to help get it to 1t?

I do not think that it's only ASUS fault
You bought a model with a ATI chipset right ??

Similar 1T issues occured with an ASROCK board. Some members of the forum claim that if you use A64 Tweaker or BIOS and set Read Preamble to 5.0ns and Max Async Latency to 7.0ns, or 6 and 8 respectively, and or *optional* bipass max to 0, then some of our problems will hopefully be solved. Use A64 Tweaker guys. Tell me if this solves some issues. Try using other numbers as well.

Not this again...

Explain to me why every other ATi chipset in every other motherboard made works fine.

Asus screwed up with the A8R-MVP, and even screwed up with their recently released A8R32-MVP. Asus decided to fix the A8R32-MVP within a week and basically told us A8R-MVP users to fuck off!

You should get a clue before adding your worthless posts. The only ATI chip on the Asus A8R-MVP is the Crossfire chip. Those of us running one video card, are not running ANY ATI chipset functions. Let me repeat that. There are NO ATI mobo functions being used if you're only running 1 video card. So once again... it IS Asus's fault. Sheesh

Well seeing as how radio shack didnt have what was needed for volt mod of the board, I finally found people that had used the pinmod. It did in fact give me 1.55vcore on my opteron 165 allowing me to hit 2.6. Id go further but need better cooling. Only prob i have with board is vcore fluctuation and ati bug. Well besides not having the power to oc like the box would have you think it could. I even run 1t on ram, have it at 237mhz will go higher but need to cool cpu better. I found somewhere that it likes 9 trc for 1t. Since fixing trc to 9 been able to run with 1t. Stock power on the ram too.

I tried that...I still get 3D instability. Games load, but crash. No reason I shouldn't be able to run 1T...

I get 11,920 3DMark05 @ 2T, no telling what I'd get @ 1T....

If you bought that ati x1900xt, and have this board. I say its a waste without that much needed bios. I have a X1900XTX. Look at this.

As you can see with one of the bios's not the current one I outscore my system now. Im running 2.6 with my vid card oced to core 688.50 mem 801.00 ( I can go much higher but this was for testing purposes). Before my system was 2.4 with no oc on my vid card. Im running 1t right now with mem is on 166, at 237mhz. Faster then I had before. I had it scaled way down due to ocing, so 100 on ram and 2t. But still outscored my current system. If that isnt some gay shit I dont know what is.
