I don't know much about any of em, but going just by brand I can say that I personally love Epox boards - very stable at screaming FSBs so far for me (but not in me personal rig though ... damn OCZ to a bloody burning inferno in hell!)

I know my Abit NF7 (non S) hit 212 ram (424 DDR) with stock voltages....I mean 2.7v without a Vmem mod.

Re: So...which nforce2 mobo??

Well if you want my opinion, the Epox 8RDA is the best board out for stability and overclockability, im running it with 2100+ Tbred B CPU and 512MB DDR PC3200 XMS corsiar ram and I'm currently at a little over 2500MHz on air cooling :-)

And what about Chaintech 7NJS? Why it wasn't in the poll?

One of these NForce2 boards has extremely lame C-Media sound instead of NVIDIA's one. Which one?
Because this one sucks before even starting discussion.

BTW, Chaintech 7NJS is good featured, and most expensive.

OK. Now think about WITHOUT Vmods. Then it is the Chaintech. Chaintech lets you change Vdimm to like 3.1 and the ram to 2.x. Now that's a crazy board stock

I heard this is Asus, but now I am not sure anymore... (actually read a review where Chaintech is highly recommended). Chaintech even has that front 5.25 bay.

Does the NF7 support dual-channel DDR? If so, will it support DDR333 or just DDR400?

I just wanted to make sure, 'cuz on Abit's site it says it supports "dual DDR400". Which I didn't know what that ment, I mean 2 sticks of DDR400 or dual-channel DDR400.

Thanks.

What board are you looking at? NF7? NF7-S? Actually you can take 3 sticks of RAM in these boards. But only two on dual channel.

OH OK. These Abit boards are great. Without a memory volt mod you can hit 212 FSB easy, that's running the 2.7 volt max. I can hit 212 with timings at 4-2-2-2

Cool. Here's the system I'm thinking of getting;

ABIT NF7-S

Athlon XP 2100+ (revB)

512Mb PC2700 Crucial-Micron DDR-RAM (2x256)

Thermaltake Volcano 9

Thermaltake shim

$368USD shipped. What do you think?

Dude, if you want to overclock a lot then get the SLK 800 heatsink. And then throw a Thermal Take Smart Fan II on it. It's better than the Volcano 9. Althogh the V9 doesn't dissapoint me. 2200mhz 1.725v .... 30C idle right now. Fan can barely be heard either.
