asus p2-99 and a celeron 633mhz CPU????????
hi guys.
if got a asus p2-99 that im build for my little sister and it had a celeron 433mhz CPU in but i want to upgrade it to 633mhz CPU. if got the manual but the highest it says the CPU is 550mhz. i read a nother thread where a guy inserted a 700mhz cpu... so i know the motherboard can handel it. he also said it can go up to 1ghz. but dont know about that. i downloaded the latest bios because i think the manual was written before the 633mhz chip so maby the bios update will fix that. but can you guy help me.....i thried everything but not a thing happens...............thanks

It just won't boot with that proc?
Its possible that the multiplier is too high. YOu may have to raise the FSB and try and get as close to stock as you can |

Eight jumpers possables are
FSB speed : PCI speed 66.8 33.4 75 37.5 83.3 41.65 100.3 33.43 103 34.3 105 35 110 36.67 112 37.33 115 38.33 120 40 124 31 124 41.33 133 33.3 133 44.33 140 35 150 37.5 So iur likely that for the 100mhz bus 550 that people are simply over clocking the FSB to get to the higher setting but that going to make the chipset and CPU very hot, and the cpu must be able to handle the FSB. Micgh even require unlocking the CPU... (also there is a p2-99 and a p2-99B and there is more then 1 bord revision) the manual for p2-99 http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...9/p299-113.pdf

Neon most card CPU's are unlocked/older ones anyway...this was pre-OCing anyway. Hell if my old IBM machine had a better mobo and BIOS, I have an unlocked K7 Pluto 600 MHz wit hthe 1/2 divider L2 cache

Does it say anywhere in the manual about setting a muiltiplier or FSB? That's the info I need to figure this out. If you can't adjust those you're SOL

The manual is downloading for me at less than 2 kb/sec so I'm gonna let it go, then when I get home later today I'll take a look at what jumpers you need to set

The PDF got corrupted in download.... I'll try again and see if I can get it at work maybe.
Hopefully its just a matter of flipping one or two... but exercise caution doing this all the same |

OK.
Set the FSB to 100 and the multiplier to 6.5. That gives you 650 MHz which is close to stock. |
