@ BWX: when i had my 6800GT, it was so large that my SATA connector for one of my HDDs and the molex for the gfx card were touching. i was afraid that the molex would break. that never happened, and after a while i got my x800 card.

@ hobo: yea, i still have my x800. still in my rig playing BF2 no problem . why do you ask?

There's a return policy, if it's damaged or doesn't work I can return it.

Do you really think I should look for another motherboard?

Yeah it would probably be a good deal if it works, but the shipping is the same as the motherboard cost. I'd be nervous about hooking up parts to the mobo, as it may destroy them if it is bad.

This is a really great motherboard, it's very expandable for low-mid-ranged hardware. Why would they sell a non-working motherboard? I'm asking if they've been used before and if they've been tested. They seem to be trust-worty. Computer Geeks(The seeler): http://www.geeks.com/

My hardware is pretty cheap. I'm hoping to get a processor upgrade soon.

Other than that, would this system work out if I were to get this motherboard?

Thanks,

I don't know why, but people sell junk on e-bay all the time.. I guess they just want to make money. I just saw the 9 dollars at the top- I thought they were selling it for 9 dollars at first.. I just now saw it was 21.99, Maybe for a few bucks more you could buy a bran new one? Not sure.

The guy has sold 28,541 items, I would bet money he doesn't test anything. He does have a good rating, but still..

Ha, didn't think about it like that. I found it at another place for about $50 (-S&H). It doesn't seem like they make them anymore. :/

Another thing, I heard case PSU tend to blow out fast(The cheap ones, anyways.). I'm prepared to buy another one. What do you think about the PSU that comes with that case? @_@

Is the Intel 865PE a good Intel chipset? Is it pretty upgradeable? I don't know for sure because I have only had AMD systems in the last 6 years or so. I think it is a good chipset though..

If that is more upgradeable that is a good. Then later you can get a faster CPU, memory, a better PSU, and have a pretty fast gaming rig until you decide to go PCI express sometime in the future.

edit-

LOL- that is a long story.. I got a 7800GTX three months ago with tax returns and then got the 7900GTX via the EVGA step up program. So I only had to tell the wife I was spending "another hundred bucks" for a lot of future proofing. She bought it, and so I did the step up. Now I am set for a while. Upgrading your PC can cost big bucks. Keeping it up to date can cost a lot more.

the 865pe chipset is a good chipset. as is the 875pe chipset. those were the two chipsets by intel that in their day were top dawg.

for better understanding for you BWX, it's like having nForce 4 chipset w/1 pci-e 16x (865pe) and nForce chipset SLI (875pe). few differences, but the differences are great

SatsukiMikata, I just was looking for a CD and saw the CD I was supposed to give you with that card. I completely forgot to put it in there.

I wonder if it has files on there that you cannot just get on the web?

Does anyone know? It has all the TV in-out chip drivers on it, MMC and whatnot. Do you plan on using the TV input on that card?

If you want the CD I have it man- and I will send it to you. Sorry about that.. I must have had a brain fart. I was very busy that week.

Re: Soldering an AGP Bus onto a Dimension 2400?

EDIT: oh boy it is old....

just a fyi.... if you replace the motherboard.. you'll likely have to replace the case as more often then not.... the mounting holes in the dell cases come nowhere near matching the standards of ATX, or any other form factor that that matter.

Another factoid is that While a DELL Oem Supplied copy of windows xp is tied to the dell motherboard, you can however use the dell cd key with a OEM (not dell) Copy of windows xp, when activating, if you are unable to activate, call in, give them a sob story about your dell motherboard dieing, and make it clear to them that no other machine has a copy of windows xp.

Out of about 20+ machines from various manufacturers with both windows XP and Vista, i've YET to have a problem moving a single cd key to another machine or with the change of a few main components.
