Hi,
I'm fearly new to SCSI. I have 3 U320 seagate drives and 2 different SCSI controllers to test with. One is adaptec 29160 and my problem one 29320 which I would like to upgrade to. My first one recognize drives in adaptec bios and as well in system bios showing me my 3 drives. After that I can boot without any problem to windows xp lockated on SCSI partition. Now my new controller 29320a will show me my drives and my card in controller Bios and will search my devices in system bios quickly detecting somthing at the and. I was able to see my drives without showing sync, where 160 controller does display sinc at 160. But this is not the problem(it mybe conneted to the problem mybe not). After trying to boot to my scsi partition (premade with my old adaptec card 160) windows start loading and hangs after 30 sec displaying me blue screen with message to prevent damage of my system windows stops. Next step I did I try to change booting option from my cd rom to load new partion on new scsi drive.Second boot device is my scsi drive. Final screen I get after loading all divers from cd-rom to start new windows intalation "system not found any drives intaled in my system. Please help me what alse can be dane or what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your time and help. Adam Last edited by edamski; Jun 29, 2006 at 10:24 PM. |

Do you have the SCSI INT13h extensions enabled? Windows might not need them or not want them, I've found it to cause problems with some booting

Have you tried disabling the auto-wide negotiation and have it assume they're not wide SCSI devices?

The only other thing I can think of is messed up SCSI ID's... if you could describe your current setup in a little more detail that'd help

Thanks so much finaly I found the problem was my windows xp cousing problem.
Missisng driver or corapted. There is what I did.I did plug to scsi cards. The old adaptec 29160 which I preload originally the windows and my new 29320 card in the second slot After booting to windows operating system recognize new device and ask me for the driver. After restart my copmp and removing my old 29160 card was no more error with the blue screen. I'm just wondering why the new instalation on the empty drive did not lfound my HD. Maybe windows booting do not have right driver for adaptec Thanks again for your help!!!! |
