not exactly... my understanding from reading other threads on just this subject is that there is zero performance increase using SATA on a regular ATA 100/133 hdd. In fact there have been a lot of hdd corruptions from people using SATA at all. AFAIK, the only advantage would be to free up and IDE and to improve airflow in the case. Other than that, if you do not have an SATA hdd, I would disable SATA from the get go. Even before installing the OS. To disable SATA go to BIOS > Integrated Peripherals > Onboard PCI Device > and then enable or disable Serial ATA Controller. Just my $.02 of course...

Basically the more tweakable options in your bios the more chance that you'll fry your nforce2 board when messing with it. It sucks. However it has been addressed by companies. I'll have a look at the bios and decide for myself if I want the extra features provided. If not, I'll go back to 1.1. Not a big deal really.

I think MB manufaturers would best tackle this hurdle by going and making a Light bios for different tastes. An O/C bios and an average users bios, or something of the like...

However it seems like many sites are using a fear tactic to sell these things. Its not as huge as it's made out ot be. If it happens to me I'll spend 4 bucks on a new bios chip.
