Sad Clock gaining time

The clock on my system has always gained time since I upgraded to a new ASUS A7N8X

board. It normally gains about 5 minutes a day. No big problem I know, just annoying.

Anybody any ideas why ?

Well, actually. Years ago, I once possesed a micron computer. Which would gain about 3 minutes per day after my father put the wrong voltage of battery in it. So It could be that but I'd guess not. If it really bothers you I'd rma it if you can.

RMA it, or use an internet timesync program - there are a good many free ones.

PC Clocks are notoriously poor, but as they ARE crystal controlled, 0.34% accuracy is pretty naff - even though it's going to be untrimmed - your average digital watch is not precision trimmed either, but does a hell of a lot better.

It COULD be temperature related - is it more accurate after a similar period switched off? - if so, you need more case cooling!

I don't think my temperatures are too high at 40 and 25 degrees C for the CPU and Board,

and it doesn't seem to make any difference whether it is on or off. I have started using

the built-in time syncronising program that comes with XP so it's no big deal, I was just

wondering. Thanks for the replies anyway

Yeah, I'd just sync it with the windows website... I've never heard of a problem like this before. I used to have a problem with losing time.

maybe your computer is the only clock that's actually correct, and 5 minutes of the rest of everyone else's lives has been trapped within a time continuum..
