Upload faster than download? Shouldn't it be the other way round?

not always...
depends on the connection, usually a cable connection has a slower upload... but my wireless internet is tuned for full duplex down/up being sent and received at the same time, 28,000kbps down and 28,000kbps up.

To be honest I'm actually fine with Bells' mid service. $35 a month flat (instead of $50), for up to 7mb (although I only get 4.5... long story). One nice perk is that I get unlimited bandwidth, and they have yet to cut me off, which I cannot say the same for all my clients/friends that use Rogers/Shaw (I feel for any poor bastard using their service). They've been good to me the last 7+ years, 'cept in one or 2 instances (1 very recent) where I've had to complain about my speed, or speed vs what I was being billed for. Although... I want faster... just not willing to pay through the nose for it. Bell has a fiber service that is up to 16mb, but there is no way in hell I'm paying $100 a month ($90 on contract) for it. |

Doesn't help me and Tipstaf
![]() @Tipstaf: $35 for 7MBit? I'm near Oakville in Mississauga (QEW and Erin Mills) and I pay $50 for 5MBit ultra, and I'm right near a C/O. Where can I find what you get on their website? I'll still take 4.5 for $35 a month |

Complain. That's all I can suggest, H3X. At one time I had the Ultra when it was first introduced, but went back to the standard High Speed, and rather than tear it all apart they capped my speed. When they upped the speed for all their members mine stayed capped. Finding out that everyone was getting faster speed by default pissed me off, so I complained, and sure enough the next day everything sped up when the cap was released. Oh, and don't let them fool you with the, "Well, sir, the service is "up to" 7mbps, but we don't guarantee 7mbps." bullshit. Complain, compare your speed with a friend who is getting more, yet lives down the street (lie or exaggerate), and has the same package, get them to do a line test, get them to check your area for expected speeds, and so on... keep complaining, and they will straighten it out. You will most likely have to get them to switch the service to the "Total Internet" package (or they will do it on their own), and if they do, be sure to get a contract (another thing they don't tell their customers about). I've been getting long term contracts for a while with them, which are now in 1 year terms, but it's worth it.. for me at least. Normally it means $5 off, but with a wee bit of sweet talking you can get it for $10 or more off.
