Verios is on a distinguished road

Newbie to Intel, motherboard questions.

Hiya guys! So I'm consdering buying a Intel Core™2 Duo Processor E6420 2.13GHz w/ 4MB Cache. However I'm a complete newbie to Intel and havent the slightest idea what motherboard would be considered decent. Is Socket 775 the latest for intel? Basically looking for a motherboard that dosent have all that onboard video, etc... I dont overcloak so that's not a major concern for me. I was looking at the Asus P5N-E SLI w/ DualDDR2 800, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, 1394, Dual PCI-E x16 SLI as was curious to know what your guys opinion on that one might be or if you'd have any suggestions for basically an average gamer motherboard. Thanks guys!

the asus intel boards are very solid and the one you mention should do you fine. Im running one in another system and i got a 1gig overclock out of a conroe.....

One of my personal favourites is the ASUS P5B Premium Vista Edition - im running a Quad core extreme edition on it via air with vista, and ive it running at 3.6ghz (almost a gigahertz overclock) with only 1.4 volts. Loaded with features and really stable too.

Buddy picked one up replacing his 680i w/ the e6300 killed off a 1.5GHZ clock. I have to agree it is a great board.

ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i, I liked this board, but for a few bones more you can snap in the p5b.
