Yes, however it is a 3rd party providers decision to implement it as such. But yes it supports it, expect by Sept 9th or so to see Asus, Gigabyte, and Abit offerings.

Intel's own board X38 (BoneTrail) will probably supports DDR3 only,
but as seeing that Foxconn, Gigabyte, Asus, DFI... are also produces the boards which either supports both DDR2 and DDR3 in the same board, or support only one type of the memory (either DDR2 only or DDR3 only), I think i will assume that the X38 (Bearlake X) do support both DDR2 and DDR3 (just like the Bearlake P/G) but not officially supprted by Intel.

The X38 chipset will be able to support DDR2 as well although Intel did not list that down officially on their roadmap. Amid sky high prices of the DDR3 memories currently, it seems it is a logical choice to stick to the much cheaper DDR2 memories.

Supporting both on one board would be sweet.

Foxconn's board about to show up, X38 is now in the product list on their global website (but atm still showing Not found data),
one of their X38 board looked like ( link: HEXUS.net - Headline :: SLI or CrossFire on FOXCONN Intel-chipset boards! : Page - 1/1 ) to be a hybrid design board... DDR2 "or" DDR3... supports both CrossFire and SLI.

i heard Foxconn's MARS P35 based board is quite a good board, and i'm expecting a lot from the X38 board, will just wait and see.

Rumor has it that Intel is using X38 as a reference board for testing...and they will be withholding X48 for their "Bone Trail" release

And I guess Gary Key at Anandtech said Intel is pulling out all the stops on Bone Trail.

let's not buy DDR3 memory just yet, until the BoneTrail DDR3 board shows up. not sure why i think like that, lol. but i think right now seem to be best to hang on to your favorite DDR2 memory, or still keep on playing with one of the many good and best overclocking DDR2 modules, or i might just invest on today's highest speed DDR2 memory, all X38 DDR2 based board looked real good to me.

-----------------------

back to the question about the X38 and DDR2...

i just found this web page... have a look at the Intel X38 Express chipset's block diagram on this page - intel x38 chipset reference motherboard
it looks like the block diagram says "Dual Channel DDR2 or DDR3"?

however, there are several info that i've seen on the web, which said that the X38 chipset does not officially support DDR2.
the info still not clear atm, and i can't seem to find any documentation on the X38 atm either.

Neither the X38 or P35 "officially" support DDR2, but they still can use it.

nope, DDR2 800 officially supported by P35 Express chipset, Intel's own P35 based board supports DDR2 800.
however, DDR2 1066 not officially supported by the chipset.

you can also Google "Intel P35 Express Chipset block diagram" to see whether or not DDR2 is (actually, and officially) supported by this chipset.

also, as i understand, DDR3 higher than 1066MHz is also "not" officially supported by the P35 Express chipset, while the X38 may officially support DDR3 that has its rated speed above 1066MHz ( like upto 1333MHz.). however, any official info regarding the Intel X38 Express chipset is still not available to me at this time.

still want to know more on what went wrong on my end?

fact is/was, i really don't know.
i tried like 100 times to post and to edit a couple of posts. more than 50 times in this thread alone, i almost to gave up and PM a mod to request him to make a repost for me, as i was so curious to know if other can made the post, or not.
but i tried something that i have not yet tried first... i remove some part of the message i tried to post (the original message was not very long or anything at all),
it was quite odd or was just an coincident, all the problem seemed to go away, just as mysteriously as it began, lol.

nah, the reason was not because of that, even though i said i really don't know, but i believe i know a lot more than that. and thanks for your concern on my problem.
there was more weird things had happened, likes more than 10 occasions, after i transmitted the message, the waiting cursor appears for some minutes then the page returns with everything looked normal but just the post that i tried to edit it became invisible. and not once, that the pages had returned with a generic error format, but some blank pages, and this had happened with 3 web browsers. and like i said, everything on the site seemed to be very normal, i saw other has made a post after posts. my internet activity with other sites was perfectly fine, even with this site, i could view and search the site contains fine. otherwise i would not be so curious and bothered to try so many things and so many times.
but all in all, like i said (again, LOL), i really don't know, i'm just another internet user. well, let's forget it, otherwise, this will be more and more way offtopic.

Panging if you have issues on DH, then drop me a PM or email explaining what is going on and ill look into it (or post some info in feedback), I noticed you posted a few in off topic recently and i removed them as I guessed you were having some issues.

for now however, please lets get this thread back to the subject matter. Thanks guys.

Thank you for your concern, Zardon.

i wasn't sure at all that the whatever problem that i had was caused by your end (i mean neither the forum softwares, nor the servers),
and i was try to check and have enough info at least at my end first before sending you an email, and i was hope that i could find the cause at my end.
or otherwise, it would be hard to me to explain to you if i wasn't clear enough on what was going on in front of me.

but since i don't see any more problem and my curiosity to find out more about the yesterday's problems is already gone.
i was not actually frustrated by the problem at that time at all but rather LOL a lot, and i was like a lot of curious man, cause i kept saying WTH's, till people around me wanted to see what was going at the front of my monitor.

anyways, i won't be sending you an email, but if i have the same problem again, and i think there is a problem at your end, then i'll let you know.
