Looking for a Heat Sink for the Maximus Formula Mother Board
Hi All,
Looking for a Heat Sink for the Maximus Formula Mother Board. Here is the link for the MB: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. The problem is that there are heat sinks within the CPU socket, so the heat sink with the fan needs to be elevated. I tried and none worked. I was told that Zalman CNPS9500A LED should work but I get mixed opinions of that.(Zalman USA). The actual dimension of the CPU socket area is 95 by 110 mm. Need really to replace the Stock Fan that is making a lot of noise out of THE Core 2 Quad 3GHz CPU. Appreciate some feedback. Thanks, Doron Last edited by Doron; Dec 22, 2007 at 02:11 AM. |

Hi There,
Thanks for the info for the heat sink. I guess it is the Ultra 120 Extreme. Regarding your computer for drive C, I would use a separate hard disk like this one: Western digital WD1500ADFD 10000 rpm 16mb cache 5 years warranty 150GB. ClubIT Product - Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5 Gb/s Hard Drive OEM WD1500ADFD Regards, Doron |

who me?
the raptors are good and all, but i'm wondering if ill be better off with low latencies(Raptor) or higher transfer speeds(7200.11) if you are a serious HARDCORE gamer id go with the raptors so you dont have to deal with skipping and such from seek time. but if you dont like to wait for load times id go with seagates

Hi,
Have you looked at SCSI hard disks like 15,000 RPM from Seagate? Do you have the link for that user message that used the Ultra 120 Extreme? Regards, Doron |

Hi All,
I am using this case and if I use this heat sink it will be close to the fan. http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&tbcate=17&id=14 The below heat sink may require me to remove one 120mm fan from the plastic door to make sure that there is enough room. http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/product_cpu_cooler.html If you know some other companies please let me know. (I tried 2 heat sinks and did not work). Here is the mother board that I am using: http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=572&l4=0&model=1889&mo delmenu=1 Thanks, Doron |

ehh..... there are no heatsinks that are more powerful than the Ultra extreme, there is the Ultima 90 that can fit but that things tiny
try this! Swiftech H2O-220 Compact CPU Liquid Cool Kit Products Model: H20-220-COMPACT [H20-220-COMPACT] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come the guy had to remove the fan bracket to get it in because it is the best performing heatsink around, if you dont want to lose a couple degrees of cool then getting that or watercooling is good. if you got the cash, i recommend the watercooling, cheap small and powerful man

USB 3 dot oh

A good Ultra-120Extreme (push/pull) with a good mount, and proper TIM will beat a low end watercooling system. If your going to go water I would put together a kit yourself, better performance, and more rewarding knowing you put it together imo.
![]() It also has no clearance issues on any P35/X38/X48 Motherboards from any manufacturer. |
