680i to 780i OS questions

hi im thinking of doing the evga up grade from the 680i to the 780i will i have to re instal windows xp. or will it work with my current instal.
my system specs are
CPU: q6600
MOBO: EVGA 680i SLI A1
GPU: XFX 8800 GTS 320MB
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) SLI ready momory
HARD DRIVE: 250 GB WD SATA, and a Maxtor 300 GB SATA
PSU: OCZ GameXtreem 700w
CASE: ANTEC 900
CPU COOLER: Hyper TX Universal
SCREEN: HANSG 19' 1440x900
KB: G15
MS: G5
OS: WINDOS XP HOME SP2
CD/DVD righter.

System Specs

seeing that the current 780i chipset is based on the current 680i chipset, it's unlikely that you will need to. however, even if you don't have to, it's always recommended that you do it anyways.

but, if you want to try and not to install those drivers, i would recommend that you uninstall the chipset and display drivers from safe mode, then run driver cleaner. once you've done that, you should then pull out your 680i board. once you've done that, put in your new 780i board and hopefully your machine will boot up into safe mode at least. then install those new chipset drivers and display drivers from safe mode again and reboot. hopefully by now, you should be able to get back into windows.

do it exactly like that, and it's likely that you will not need to reinstall the chipset drivers, but there are no guarantees that it will work.
