Hi everyone, I've read the posts concerning similar situations but mine is slightly a different variation. I appreciate any help or recommendations from you peeps =D Brief Information: CPU: intel Q9300 CORE 2 QUAD Q9300 Motherboard: Asus striker 2 formula (updated bios 1101) RAM: Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 4GB(2X XMS2 2GB)PC-6400C5 (800MHZ) DDR2 RAM,2x240-pin DIMMs, Non ECC Unbuffered,5-5-5-18 PSU: OCZ OCZ850GXSSLI Power Supply: GameXStream 850W NVIDIA SLI-Ready Problem: Currently when i turn my computer on, i can see the post screen. It crashs (freezes) when it reaches memory detection (dual channel mode detected) -I cant enter bios (it crashes when dual channel mode detected) -i tried using the cmos reset button at the back of the motherboard without any success To complicate the situation further: -1 day old -no manual settings (i.e. no overclocking etc) -The computer worked for a period of time (3-4hours) installed vista 64bit etc then crashed twice (no bsod just frozen) then this occurred -i tried using 1 ram piece on different slot same result (frozen) Thanks Regards Raymond

Could you list what your Voltages in BIOS are? If you have them on AUTO...that might be your problem.

Have you tried both sticks one at a time or only one of them? Sounds like you have a bad memory module or bad BIOS chip. I don't think it is the voltages. Have had 2 computers with that behaviour. Both had bad BIOS chips.

I've just bought one of these boards and it is so so sensitive with memory. See if it boots with one stick and make sure you manually set the RAM voltage to it's correct setting. Leave everything else at auto for now till it's up and running. It's not a plug and play board in the usual sense and will take some tweaking to get things 100%.
I've spent 3 days just getting the thing stable with four 1gb sticks (didnt help that OCZ have switched IC manufacturers which is another story all together).

I have had the same problems, it isn't actually a memory problem and I know this isn't really going to fix the under lying problem but it does work and since i have done it, my pc no longer crashes (blue screen), the problem is with the nvidia chipset and SATA drives - after trying everything i could think of to fix the problem i replaced my SATA HDD with a IDE HDD and it works perfectly - at least i can use this motherboard normally now and play all my games, so people to get around the problem for the time being untill ASUS gets there act together and provides proper drivers for SATA drives or addresses the problem with a bios update, replace your SATA HDD's with IDE HDD's and you should all be happy Campers ;-)

Or you could return the mobo and get an XFX 780i board which works perfectly right out of the box. OK, you don't get the soundcard included and it has a few option missing from the bios that the Asus has, but I prefer a system that boots rather than one that gives me problems.
I did persist with my Asus board for a week, trying everything including beta bios direct from Asus technical but the thing just wasn't stable with 8gb of ram. I bought an XFX board (same 780i chipset) to see if it was one of my components, and that thing booted straight up and is 100% stable.
I used to trust Asus to make a good board, but that is the last time I buy anything from them...........
