I don't get the point to have multiple LAN controllers when you have one DSL line that is limited to certain speed....

it's kinda crazy... the only thing i've ever used 2 network ports at the same time was hooked up to the net, and the other hooked up to the xbox.... granting both internet and computer access simultaniously

well i've applied other uses to them..
they should provide load balancing for multiple internet connections as well. i've ran 3 wireless adapters in tandem to see if i could sustain a better internet connection....

people are building their computer for different purposes,
the 4 LAN ports is in the top model DQ6 only, some may want to use the board for low-cost workstation or even server computer, or a special-purpose computer. DS4 or DS5 model is good enough for me, as i've been seeing since Gigabyte P965(P)-DS4, all boards are stable more than enough, overclock good enough, plenty of computer's ports and extras. |

Intel P45 Express chipset comes with the Intel ICH10 (or ICH10 RIAD in many models of the boards) southbridge providing onboard SATA (and/or SATA RAID).
then there is usually also one or more built in (as an onboard PCIe devices) third party chipset(s) providing more additional SATA (and/or PATA), and also usually comes with SATA RAID abilities. |

P5Q-Premium
![]() i think this one should be asus's best P45 DDR2 in P5Q series boards, for now. 4 LAN ports, 10 SATA's and all. and yet asus may has another board based on P45 and DDR2, the Maximus II formula, which is supposed to be the best of the best in P45-based motherboards. this MSI board may come close to what some people are looking for.
8 DIMM slots (4 DDR2, 4 DDR3 DIMM slots) for DDR3 future proof (lol). ![]() MSI P45 features (sorry, it's only a partly English language in this document) http://www.msi-computer.co.jp/eco/MSI_P45_feature.pdf Last edited by PangingJr; Jun 17, 2008 at 07:58 PM. |
