however, as some of the early info indicated that some of the P45 based boards features native support for up to 16GB of DDR2 memories,
so, i think it may still too early to tell what's the motherboard feature is going to be like, or what each motherboard will offer and/or support.

it's kinda crazy...

the only thing i've ever used 2 network ports at the same time was hooked up to the net, and the other hooked up to the xbox.... granting both internet and computer access simultaniously

Happened with P35 as well. I bought my P35-DQ6 over a month before they were actually 'released.' And I even bought it retail.

well it's a 4x4GB memory kit.
but i think it's not going to be too long before its price come down and it's at a very reasonable price.

the multiple LAN ports may not need to be using Teaming/VLANs,
some might find some use for them, may be like a multiple physical networks system.

well i've applied other uses to them..

they should provide load balancing for multiple internet connections as well.

i've ran 3 wireless adapters in tandem to see if i could sustain a better internet connection....

people are building their computer for different purposes,
the 4 LAN ports is in the top model DQ6 only, some may want to use the board for low-cost workstation or even server computer, or a special-purpose computer.

DS4 or DS5 model is good enough for me,
as i've been seeing since Gigabyte P965(P)-DS4, all boards are stable more than enough, overclock good enough, plenty of computer's ports and extras.

it's most likely just like Gigabyte P965/P35/X38/X48 boards...

yellow SATA ports are controlled by Intel ICH southbridge.
purple SATA ports are controlled by GIGABYTE SATA2 controllers..

Intel P45 Express chipset comes with the Intel ICH10 (or ICH10 RIAD in many models of the boards) southbridge providing onboard SATA (and/or SATA RAID).

then there is usually also one or more built in (as an onboard PCIe devices) third party chipset(s) providing more additional SATA (and/or PATA), and also usually comes with SATA RAID abilities.

P5Q-Premium

i think this one should be asus's best P45 DDR2 in P5Q series boards, for now. 4 LAN ports, 10 SATA's and all.

and yet asus may has another board based on P45 and DDR2, the Maximus II formula, which is supposed to be the best of the best in P45-based motherboards.

this MSI board may come close to what some people are looking for.

8 DIMM slots (4 DDR2, 4 DDR3 DIMM slots) for DDR3 future proof (lol).
