had the same thing snake... along with poorer performance. Those two together = rollback. After the rollback, pause went away and performance is back

NF7-S v1.2 board XPSP1
Yeah guys, same thing happened to me... Installed new 2.14 drivers (including the 'performance-enhancing' IDE drivers) and now my PC hangs when trying to reboot. Never left it longer than 6 secs to see if it comes back. My guess is that it's to do with the Nvidia IDE drivers, but for now, I'm not going near this set, not even with a full Biohazard suit and gauntlets. Who says Microsoft has the monopoly on releasing duff updates? |

my advice is to install the new nforce driver set, but DO NOT install the IDE driver. Nvidia have fixed the SCSI rom drive problem but the IDE driver sucks for performance now. Seems they are now admitting this problem off the record.
This will manifest itself in different ways depending on the system. from pauses on boot up or shut down (as detailed here), to a 25% loss in performance. if you have accidentally installed them, just do a roll back. |

well never any guarantees of no problems
But yeah, just go into device manager and open the IDE controller then driver tab then click driver rollback. No option as to which to roll back to just the option to roll back to last installled driver. Just do that and reboot. This reboot will still hang but then new IDE driver (well old actually ) will load and the pause should be gone from now on...

Snake, if you can't rollback, you can downgrade manually. In device manager, right click and hit update driver. Don't have it automatically install, and use specify driver from a list. The nvidia driver and the Standard Dual Channel IDE driver should be listed. Select that, and you should be good to go.

everything described on this thread happened to me after installing the new driver. I also noticed that I could not run any cdroms on the cdr-cdrw. I actually uninstalled 2.42 then reinstalled 2.03. Also had to change the driver on the NVIDA IDE driver back to the standard driver to get everything working correctly.

I reinstalled the old driver manually and everything is back to normal. Thanks
