Pissed A8R 32MVP-Deluxe Vista 32bit Sound Issues. PLEASE HELP!

Hi All

I have just joined the forums. I have no idea how to sort this problema and am considering returning to XP to solve it!

I installed Vista a few weeks ago and have had nothing but problems!

The sound keeps cutting out in media player. And Crashes with all programs when watching video. This includes internet streams i.e you tube.

I have all the latest drivers from the Asus website for the graphics card (X1600XT 512mB) and onboard HD audio

I have also tried the xp drivers and original disc drivers and nothing works!

I really need help on this before it goes out the window

Thanks

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Since that mobo has AMD/ATI's chipset have you tried their newest Vista drivers? I think they are a bit newer than Asus's drivers. And remember to uninstall the old ones before installing the new ones

I have tried the lastest graphics drivers. I don't think they are the issue it's the sound that is the main problem i think. Sorry if that was unclear. HD realtek drivers don't work either?!

Thanks for your help but I tried this too and it doesn't work?? Don't know what to do. Wonder if I should just go back to XP. I have ASUS X1600XT Silent and the A8R 32MVP Deluxe but the HD audio drivers don't work from ASUS or Realtek. This is such a weird one. I appreciate your help

Just something else to try if you can be bothered. It could be all the uninstalling and re-installing of drivers etc has caused problems as well.

  1. If you are overclocked return all settings to default
  2. Make sure mobo bios is the latest and flash to the latest bios if it is not.
  3. Save and reboot. Check that BIOS audio and grapic settings are correct.
  4. Go into windows and download onto a cd or DVD all of the latest motherboard drivers and any other drivers you need for graphics and sound and put all these onto cd/dvd.
  5. Disconnect all usb and firewire connections to pc. Make sure graphics card is seated correctly
  6. Re-format and reinstall vista
  7. Make sure all the latest vista updates are installed including SP1. Do not let Vista any of its generic hardware drivers for audio/graphics etc via the hardware wizard. You may have to reboot a couple to ensure all the updates are installed as some cannot install until earlier updates are installed.
  8. Make sure firewall is switched off and do not install any antivirus or spyware programs yet.
  9. Then install each of your downloaded drivers in turn from your CD/DVD you made earlier. Reboot between each driver install and allow vista to configure itself and all hdd activity to terminate before you install the next driver.
  10. After last driver is installed and you have re-booted go into the vista control panel > sound. Make sure speakers are configured correctly.
  11. Then open the software for your on-board sound and configure the speakers for that too.
  12. Now try a music CD or movie DVD and see if things work okay
I can't promise you that this will help. It may just waste your time but it is worth a go. Vista is great. Good luck!!

Gone back to XP. Stable, easy and reliable. Vista is still along way off and with graphical shells like hyperdesk who needs vista?
