Vista x64 Business Firewire issue
I just built a new PC running Vista Business x64 and I want to connect my old XP system and this new one together with firewire. Now, my Vista system recognizes the onboard 1394 controller in device manager just fine but it does not show up as a network connection in "network connections". I've connected the two computers hoping that the connection would show up once plugged it, but it does not.
I thought that I had read somewhere that Vista doesn't support firwire networking. However, I do not even have any firewire devices (i.e. external HDD) to try and see if firewire works at all. Anyway, as of now I cannot access the firewire connection to change TCP/IP settings

Yeah I have FireWire chip too and in XP it also showed up as network adapter but now days in Vista it don't. My guess is that there were many users who used that so that's why MS dropped it from Vista.

Do you have an external HDD? If so, have you tried any file transfers with it and did it work? I just want to know if firewire is now only available for external device connections.
