In need of an MSI Neo4-F chipset cooler

I'm in need of one as the one that is currently installed is on its way out. You can hear the fan bearings spin up and grind and so on, and i would rather have that replaced before it kills the chipset and effectively the board as well. This is the board in question, and I found this NB/SB chipset cooler on frozenCPU.com. it's not very specific as to what MoBos it can go on, but it only gives a distance measurement, which I do not know for the motherboard.

If there is anything else out there that somebody can recommend, i'm all open for suggestions .

TIA

When I had my A64 rig I got the same issue that you have. The mobo was MSI Neo4-FI and it had the same issue. I think that should work ok. I installed cooler from Titan, TTC-CUV1AB. TITAN That worked just fine.

I found this one by ThermalRight. although it seems rather large, it does specifically state it works with nforce 4 chipset boards.

the titan cooler does seem to fit the job, but they're in europe. their contact page doesn't have any US support

It works, I had one of those too before the titan, I didn't like the mounting it wasn't tight enough for my taste.

Thermalright arguably make some of the best heatsinks for cpu/chipsets/graphics. Teme, they modified the mounting retention system to prevent any of that looseness to which you referred.

Yeah I just looked those pictures and now it's much better mounted than the version that I had.

How about the Zalman ZM-NB47J. It's passive.

It's a bit too big since the PCI-E bus is just a bit too close to the NB chip...

You can easily bend the fins, or even cut away the ones that are blocking the card. It's massive enough to cool enough even with some fins missing. I have one on the old abit nf7-s v2.0 overclocked board

CDs, just thought, if you want to save $15-$20 then why don't you just replace the fan with a Scythe "Mini Kaze" 40mm Silent Mini Fan (SY124010L) and is just $4.45.

If you remove the original heatsink at the same time and clean off the original thermal compound residue and apply some new thermal compound then you will get improved cooling compared to the original HSF combination for little over $4!!

This innovative idea was bought to you live, direct from downtown London United Kingdom, by our European correspondent Cozumel.

I totally agree with cozumel. I replaced the original thermal compound on all my motherboards. First with AS5, and later when it became available the MX-2 compound.

I always gained at least 5 degrees celsius.

idk if that will work. if you look at the picture of the MoBo's chipset fan, it seems to be a proprietary round fan, not a square one like the one you have displayed.

Give Scythe a call and ask them if it fits. (626) 369-550.

Or take a drive to their office and bang on their door. They're not far from you (La Puente, LA I think). You could take the board [hostage] and demand an answer. I could watch the developing siege on live TV
