Hi sparsons & welcome to the forum.

Just confirming what your problem is:
  • You have reformatted your pc and reinstalled XP and nothing else.
  • You do not have any motherboard drivers
Is that correct?
Do you have other driver discs for graphics card, soundcard and any other components that require the drivers?

Ok man, that shouldn't be a problem (hopefully). Why did you reformat & re-install? Were there any problems with the system?

The screenshot from dxdiag is nowhere near enough to be able to be helpful. I think you're rig was prebuilt. Anyhow, I need the your full system spec please:

  • System manufacturer & model
  • Motherboard manufacturer & model
  • Graphics card manufacturer & model (if applicable)
  • Sound card manufacturer & model (if applicable)
  • Info on any other cards you have installed
  • Monitor manufacturer & model
  • Which version of XP Pro (32-bit or 64-bit) and service pack you are using

Belarc Advisor should give you all the information. CPU-Z will also give you detailed info on the CPU, RAM & motherboard. Dwonload and install them both. Then post the details please

Do you have the discs for graphics, sound and any other bits you have installed?

I've edited my previous post a bit

hmm.... whats your main problem right now? usually id just download drivers for things i use....

try to download the audio and chipset drivers

just make sure theyre for XP and not vista or anything....

theres a couple of them but just choose one for each item, they all should woork, just a matter of which is newer....

ahh the BIOS is something you dont really need unless you have motherboard trouble.... you can update it if you want, but it usually requires the use of a floppy disk

mainly you just need the sound and chipset drivers... then the internet should work....

Your BIOS is okay as you have the latest version although there is a later beta version. You should stick with the one you have unless you have a problem with waking from S3 hibernation. But the patch for that is not in the latest beta BIOS. Tell me if you need. But flashing a BIOS can be risky if you are not 100% confident you know exactly what you are doing!!!

Going from the top of the driver page that kris linked. You need:

  • The top one for sound drivers (if you are using on-board sound which I think you are).
  • For the Chipset you must be precise so we need to confirm if you are running 32-bit xo or 64-bit xp. I have quoted how to determine this at the bottom of this post. If you have 32-bit XP then the 4th down (30.07 bytes) for nforce chipset is correct. If you have 64-bit XP then the 5th down (30.99 Mbytes) for nforce chipset is correct.

This is from Microsoft site to tell which version of xp you have (32-bit or 64-bit)
Quote:
1.Click Start, click Run, type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.
2.In the details pane, locate Processor under Item. Note the value.
•If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system.
•If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with ia64 or AMD64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

Just found another page of drivers here.

Download all the one's for XP (not 64-bit). If there are duplicate drivers for XP then download the newest only. When you install reboot between each driver install to ensure configuration files do not conflict.

Welcome to the forum sparsons, I've been here a while but forgot I was a
member (due to un-matched dumbassedness) and made few posts!
If for any reason more help is needed, a monkey (that's me) is also on hand.

Oh yes, and to cozumel and kris23, I just wanna say...It is seriously a very
cool experience to see you experts at work here.I know this crap, but I'm
terrible at explaining it!Ain't that just sad?Haha...ahhh...
