Problem Viewing Network PCs

Procupine and I are both on the same network and workgroup. However, I cannot see his computer to save my life. Any suggestions on what I need to do to be able to see it? I can see his htpc, but not his main rig. Thanks.

On which OS is this problem happening, is it on a Windows or a Linux machine?

Yes I'm definitely seeing need for more details about the two PCs.
There's a hell of a lot that can cause it, even a firewall/virus protection
program can do it.
We'll need more info & like GigaWatt said, OS would be handy to know.
Good luck

cambrose if you want us to help you, you'll have to give us more details:

which router/switch, firewalls, security suites and computer components are involved?

Unknown Router/Switch (it's in our university apt but he can see my pc and the htpc, I can only see the htpc)
Firewall Disabled for both
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i for both

We are both wired in to the wall ethernet style. I think that answers all your questions.

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise also includes firewall. Your friend should disable the McAfee firewall also. Both Microsoft and McAfee firewalls should be disabled just to check if one of them is the culprit and I bet a sixpack it's one of them
