I believe if you run the installation executable again there is an option to uninstall.

That would be correct

well probably messed up with that "regedit" command....
But at this point, just try and find the latest correct driver for your nic card and install them. then see how it goes.

ethernet card = nic card so that is what you are looking for. are you running linux? or which version of windows are you using?
edit - in fact what mobo are you using too? |

yeah I went to google.com and tried to find both your proper mobo drivers and your proper nic card drivers and found neither... First we need to find out if it is even a VIA mobo (which I think it is but really should verify) or not. And if not, what chipset it actually is and isntall proper mobo drivers for it. Next we need to install your nic card drivers for winXP. I found some linux drivers but no winXP drivers for that particular nic card
![]() problems just like these are the exact reason I decided to never buy a pre-built pc again! I built my first pc about 2 years ago now and will never go back. I know exactly what every piece of my pc is because I hand picked it and put it in! no more searching around trying to find out even what I really have!! Hopefully, someone with more experience than I can jump in and find the proper mobo drivers (chipset even) and nic drivers... I wouldn't worry about uninstalling anything lets just try and find the proper ones and install them. |

well if you had the right drivers they would be on that packard bell software disc. though I would still try packard bell support. That or just use your recovery disc (floppy probably) and wipe it all clean and start fresh. This will restore your pc just like it was when you bought it. Just back up all data you want to keep if you decide to go that route. Or wait it out here and see if anyone else can help. I personally have never heard of either your mobo or your nic card
sorry m8

give me a link to where you downloaded your nic driver please. I'll check it out and see if I can help... though really, if you did a system restore then that returned it to just like you got it from the store. No foriegn drivers or anything so I would say if you still have high pings and stuff it is not a problem within your pc... maybe your ISP and the problem just happened to coincide with your fooling around before...?? When were your pings better? and what is the ping now vs. what it used to be?

OK, on that motherboard in the google search, all of those v4.43 deals are the VIA driver version NOT the mobo version! Chances are, since that company went out of business you have no use with the 4.43 drivers or any of their hyperion (or whatever they're called release). If you install any, I recommend the v1.38 VIA 4in1's. BUT! if you did a factory restore, then there is absolutely no need to mess with 4in1's or any other drivers!!
and you found the right place in that zip file it appears. Though it may not run with the file still zipped. If I were you, I would unzip that entire file to a folder and then go to ->winsetup->w2kxp->w2ksetup.exe Try that. if that does not work, unzip it all to a floppy and insert floppy. then go through device mgr and try and update driver using the have disk feature and point it to the A: drive. Good luck man but again, since you did a factory restore, I am leaning that your ping troubles are not related to your nic drivers or 4in1's at all... If this doesn't work you may be able to tweak your winXP some but if it worked fine before from factory is should still work fine from factory now!!! that is what points me to ISP troubles not any drivers.... |

yeah, put back all hardware just like it was from the factory! Then you should have a recovery floppy and/or CD! You should boot from that recovery disk and it should give you a warning about losing all data on drive. Proceed to let it format and reinstall all as it was from the factory.
I would not install ANY software from your broadband ISP. and your driver bit on the graphics cards looks great! and yes, I woud run DC from safe mode as it certainly will not hurt anything! |
