Striker Extreme nForce Drivers issue crashing the system

Hi everybody,

third time it happens to me then i decide to post about the problem i encountered.

I got an Asus Striker Extreme 680i SLI motherboard and each time i tried to install new released drivers from nvidia (last one is nForce 20.08, and got the same story with 2 last ones before), i screwed up all my system (XP Pro 32bits). When i say that, i mean i got no other choice than to reinstall a brand new OS (noway to use mouse/keyboard in VGA mode, no roll back to previous stable state for the system, no display on reboot in normal mod...).

So, i don't get it. The only working drivers from ASUS are dated from 2006/11/21, Nvidia Chipset Driver Package WHQL V9.53. As many of us on driverheaven, i like to have last drivers installed coz "it's the way to be".
So anyone met the same problem than me ? For my last try, i only kept the same drivers that are present in the ASUS package : SMBus/IDE/Ethernet.
When i launched the setup, all was fine, till the reboot and the uninstall of the previous drivers. From there, it was over...

Is there a way to update these old drivers and try to improve a bit performance of my system ?

Re: Striker Extreme incompatibility with nForce Drivers ???

i have a simple policy for any kind of driver (or software) i use: if it works, leave it be...

my nVidia GeForce 7200 GS drivers are dated 2006 too, but they still do the job... besides, i don't know if anyone has noticed, but the new nVidia drivers are "really advanced"... a monkey could set up those drivers... besides, i couldn't even get my S-Video Out to work properly, it only works in NTSC mode with the newer versions of the nVidia drivers, while the old ones work just fine in PAL and NTSC mode.
