help please

I am trying to figure out if this motherboard
MSI K9A Platinum AM2 AMD 580X CrossFire ATX AMD Motherboard

will work with an am2+ processor I am told that they have backwords compatibility but then I also heard that some bios don't support am2+ if anyone has any knowledge of this please help thanks
