GIGABYTE 965P DS4 Rev 1.0 & E8200

I have a small question, right now i own a gigabyte 965p-ds4 rev 1.0 and a C2D E6300 @ 3.15Ghz. I was thinking about switching to E8200 but gigabyte doesn't want to confirm / deny if the E8200 will work without problems with my current motherboard (Bios F11).

I saw after doing some research @ Google that few people are using my "future combo", but i want to be 100% sure.

This is my setup:

Thanks for your help.

Re: GIGABYTE 965P DS4 Rev 1.0 & E8200

According to the Gigabyte website it would not work, and I would rely on that information. No 45nm CPU's are supported. I'd keep the current CPU and save up for a bigger future upgrade.

I have the same mobo and it probably wont work as intended. Why dont you just overclock some more?

GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview - GA-965P-DS4 (rev. 1.0)
Yea i saw that but i saw as well some dudes using 45nm CPUs on 965P-DS4 1.0s, i wanted to be 100% sure before getting a new cpu.

Perhaps i should wait to get a P45 mobo or maybe get a Q6600 G0, will i notice any big difference ? I have on that system a 8800GT OC (720/1800/1900), i usually play at 1280x1024 with only AF.

For gaming there won't be much difference unless you overclock the Q6600, and they're not so very good that at that. Save up for new mobo and CPU.
