??? NVIDIA Gforce 9500 GS & nForce Ethernet XP drivers

Hi, I am downgrading from Vista to XP on my Hp Pavilion a6632 Phenom 8550.

I am looking for XP drivers for the following graphics card and network hardware:

NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GS

&

NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet

These are the details that Vista "displayed" when I looked up the information on the computer. However, when I go to NVIDIA, I do not know which Product and Product series is the right one.

I really need to downgrade to XP and this problem is really starting to annoy me. I appreciate any help I can get.

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Re: NVIDIA Gforce 9500 GS & nForce Ethernet XP drivers

First up, welcome to the forums!

Taking a look at the specs for that machine it seems that your system is running on an Nvidia nForce 4 series chipset, specifically the 430/6150SE chipset. If the specs I read is right then you will need to take a look at the drivers on THIS page. It's the official Nvidia nForce chipset drivers page for that chipset. This driver includes the following:
  • Ethernet Driver (v67.89) WHQL
  • Network Management Tools (v67.91) "Sedona"
  • SATAIDE Driver (v10.3.0.42) WHQL
  • SATARAID Driver (v10.3.0.42) WHQL
  • RAIDTOOL Application (v10.3.0.42)
  • SMU Driver (v1.61) WHQL
  • SMBus Driver (v4.69) WHQL
  • Away Mode Driver (v6.0.6000.107) WHQL
  • Installer (v6.14)
HP seems to put separate downloads for each device on their page, and when you compare their separate downloads to the official Vista driver on Nvidia's site HERE, it's almost the same just different versions (HP Nvidia Ethernet - 67.8.3 from August, Official Nvidia - 67.89 from September). As you can see the XP drivers listed above are the same ones, just for XP.

As for the graphics driver, the official driver should work fine. Nvidia (in their infinite wisdom) hasn't bothered to put the 9500GS on the selection page, which is why it doesn't show up. If you pick the 9500GT (or any of the 9 series of cards) as the card you have, and then check the drivers to see what cards it supports, it lists the 9500GS in there. HERE is the direct link to the official driver. Just remember to install these AFTER you do the above nForce driver.

Re: NVIDIA Gforce 9500 GS & nForce Ethernet XP drivers

Thanks for the help!

The nForce driver is working but the graphics driver does not seem to work. I'm using a IBM ThinkVision 17" LCD but the driver only allow me to display the lowest colour quality and the lowest resolution. It might be the actual LCD rather than the graphics driver, but I am not sure yet.

Update: Now I've got the graphics driver up and running. I had to update the general driver to the correct driver.

Glad you got it up and running.

Just of note, which "general driver"? I assume the graphics driver, right? If you can post back what you did to get it running (such as what you updated to get the driver to work) it could be useful for future references.

I first installed the driver you reffered to (graphics), then I started all the XP updates with service packs and such. After that I found the auto update function (or what it is called) on NVIDIA's site. This lead me to the exact driver for my graphics card. It is a good idea to download some updates and service packs right away because it makes it a lot easier for XP to find the right drivers.
