No, really.

You know that feeling you get when you buy a NVDA card and you know exactly where to get the Det's? You know they're good. You know that they'll make the card run smoother. You're confident. It feels good.

I feel the same about VIA. I know exactly where to get the 4-in-1's. I know they're released often. I know they're good, and I know they'll make my system run smooth. It just feels good to be able to put 4-in-1's on a new box.

Yeah, you heard me.

Via makes great chipsets, never had any issues with them besides the SBlive, Kt 133a fiasco which IMO is Creative's fault with poor bus mastering.

Seems like Creative fixed a few issues with the Audigy - shame about the 30meg download + u NEED the packing CD.

I can't believe the download asks for the CD - ffs it only works on creative hardware so why does it need the CD?

VIA = pretty damn good

Creative = pretty crappy for tarnishing VIA's reputation

Where can I get this update, and what is for? I just searched creative's site and can't find any drivers that are 30 megs.

hmmm... VIA and I are on a so-so relationship. They make great, affordable and sometimes even amazing gear, but just like ATI was a few months back, their driver support stinks (under XP that is). I've got two rigs at home both using VIA chipsets and the XP default drivers are 10 times stabler, faster and better than VIA's 4-in-1. I'd at least expect via to make drivers comparable to Intel's. Aside from this issue, I like the VIA community alot (thank god that George Breese exists!).
