Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
the motherboard is manufactured by ECS and the model is MCP61PM-HM (although on HPs site they refer to the motherboard as Nettle-GL8E)... it has an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 chipset...
i found two links on HPs website for a BIOS update on this particular motherboard... here are the links: Link 1 Link 2 personally, i would go with the larger file (the sp49011.exe file)... the only downside to this update is that the BIOS update program works only on Windows Vista...

i emailed hp about it and am waiting for a response. on a side note, if you look at both of those links to 5.27, they appear to be the same version, but separately list 2 different issues they address. i find that odd. i would think 1 bios update to a same version would resolve both issues. but i am basically trying to find a copy of my bios so i can use the award bios editor to unlock its hidden treasures. and of course, so i can flash it back if i mess up :P |

Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
Did you find update for BIOS? I have same on my HP and getting random BSOD after reinstall of Vista 32 bit. Not sure but hardware tests look good, so suspecting mobo issues....

Mirror 2 both of the BIOSes have the same release date, but they differ in size, have no idea why they do... i would go for the sp40911.exe one... you would have to have Windows Vista installed in order to perform the update...

Hi there!
You need to tell us who has made your systems motherboard. Since the BIOS is customizied for each motherboard model out there... |

Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum and I thank you in advance for your time.
I built my comp on 2005 i think, and picked an Epox 9npa+ultra mobo for it. The thing is that epox does not longer exist and support for my mobo bios/drivers went down the pipes. I got to update my bios to a 2006 version but i would like to have the newest version, cause I think it should work better with win7...maybe i'm wrong, but i don't really think an older version should work better than a new one. well, i went to phoenix award page and those guys encourage you to install a small scan software, which detects there is an update for my bios, but they charge to provide me with it. I don't understand how this is legal, but this guys should have a data base with the updates so anyone could find the updates for what I already paid when buying my mobo. anyway, the info i got from the scan is this: Bios type: Phoenix-Award Bios Date: August 11th 2006 Bios ID: 08/11/2006-NF-CK804-6A61FPA9C-00-None Bios OEM: 08/11/2006 For nForce4 Chipset-6.00 PG Chipset: Athlon 1100 rev 0 Super IO: Unknown Manufacturer: EPoX COMPUTER CO.,LTD Motherboard: nForce4 DDR:9NPA+/9NPA+Ultra/9NPAJ/9NPA Ultra Series can anyone tell me where to look for updates? thank you a lot |

Looking for your motherboard all I can find are BIOS updates up to 2005. You are already saying, that the manufacturer Epox does no longer exist. They don't make new boards and their support for their boards obviously does not exist anymore. (not bringing out new bios's) Who would make Bios updates when the manufacturer does no longer exist? nobody... There are no updates for your board. As for your worry that an old bios is not as good as a new one.. Most of the time a new bios only adds support to a motherboard for newer cpu's.

Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
Well, thank you for your reply, but...
If you watch ePoX page, the last news on it's home are from 2007, so they are dead. Also I got the latest Bios version from that page and it is from August 2006, not 2005 I thought only bios model matters. I don't think phoenix creates a custom bios for every single mobo, instead it creates a bios for a range of technologies. So my bios for example works with mobos with nforce 4 chipsets and amd processors....many mobos may fit that criteria.... And finally I find it strange that the phoenix driver update software finds an update of his own bios. But then again i'm no expert...just the opposite XD I guess i'll leave it like that, since i'll never pay to get it. thx |

Anyway, I have the same problem with Phoenix-Award. Thing is that I don't need 1 year subscription, but one-time upgrade of my bios. My specs are: Bios type: Award Bios Date: February 15th 2001 Bios ID: 02/15/2001-8601(A)-686-6A6LIPA9C-00-None Bios OEM: 02/15/2001 For VIA VT8601(A) Chipset - 6.00 PG Chipset: VIA 82C601 rev 5 Super IO: VIA 686 rev 64 at pci 7 Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc. Motherboard: VT8601 I bought extra RAM (2x512 Mb) I my motherboard won't work with it. It supports max 512 Mb . Could bios upgrade help it work? And do you know where can I find newer version of bios which would solve my problem? (I would like to make my father's old machine to work normally on internet). Thanks |

Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
Only your motherboard manufacturer can supply a BIOS for your board and it has to be exactly for that specific board revision..... If you have a "pre-built" system (Dell, HP, etc.) then you will have to get it from them.
There are no "generic" BIOS updates.

Re: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG BIOS Update
The BIOS string identifies it as being EPOX/2themax
Bios-id - Mainboard manufacturer identification - www.biosflash.com Defunct maker, very hard to find links that are not dead/bad Does it only pick up one 512, or does it pick up 256 fror each 512? The old boards were hellish fussy in RAM support, with issues over density and bank arrangement.
