whats the word on these and winXP. some say use them anyway (1.38) and others say winXP has its own built in that it likes better. On a clean install, I tested the XP drivers and the 1.37 and the 1.38 and saw no difference in numbers. In fact from XP to .38 my cd read speed went down by a few k/s (from 2097 to 2091 on sandra2k2). 3dmark numbers were virtually the same. I guess I just wonder how many XP users use the 4in1 drivers and why? did you see a performance increase over the stock XP via driver set?

normally i would be scrambling to download them, but since im giving this pc away for my parents to use, i wont bother.

is performance better than the earlier release though? caus my next board will have a via chipset too, just so i know which ones to install. i noticed new agp drivers in this one, much difference?

For me these drivers are slower than XP default drivers with or without George Breese's PCI Latency and Memory Interleave patches. HDD seek time did improve, but still not as good as with the PCI Latency patch

warning...this 4n1 set is not to be installed on a win98/NT system...keep using the 4.38s. something about MS giving up on the support for 98 and NT systems.

They've officially dropped support for NT 3.51
They will officially drop support for Windows95 in August this year

Windows98 is still supported so I'd say thats FUD (but good fud )

i just installed those. gained 0.2fps in q3a lol

my Gore performance seems ok, ~80fps outside, ~120fps inside. system seems stable so far... then again the system has only been up for 20 minutes since installing them, did the quick install, went flawlessly. let's just hope everything stays in tip-top shape.
