Hi, sorry for the confusion and thank you for the reply.
No I didn't touched the CPU pins. All pins are fine. After all I can login into XP now. I just can't enter the bios setup. After choosing DEL at the question: "Press F1 to continue or DEL to enter SETUP ", it shows a black screen. Do I solve this if I remove the CMOS battery ? ![]() Thanks. |

Re: BIOS setup, how to solve?
That is really odd you could try removing the battery if you don't have a clear CMOS jumper or switch on the board.
This may seem like an odd question but what type of keyboard are you using PS2 style or USB? (Some mobos won't activate a USB keyboard until after boot unless legacy options are set)

Re: BIOS setup, how to solve?
Thank you Mac Daddy.
Yes it is odd. I've tried to the reset using the jumpers, and removing the battery for some minutes. All still the same ![]() Thank you again, for helping and for your time! The keyboard and the mouse are PS2. |

Re: BIOS setup, how to solve?
Very weird.......
My Soltek board had a corrupt bios when I got it and I had to do a bios flash with nothing but cpu, one stick of ram, a floppy attached (to run the flash tool) a PCI video card, and of course a keyboard (ps2). Everything else was disconnected.... actually the mobo was on my bench out of the case. I had set the jumper to clear cmos, pulled the battery and left it for some time (overnight actually but that's overkill, but a few minutes may not be enough for some boards) I doubt you need to go to these extremes but it did salvage that system. Does your board allow for a bios flash from a floppy drive and do you have one on the system? (just in case you need to go there) Does everything run fine in XP if you do the F1 and boot into windows? You said it runs, just wondering if there's any problems beyond getting to setup. Does the boot procedure look the same, or does it hang/take longer than before you cleaned the system?
