looks like you will need a new computer to use those cards then....

if no one makes an offer, i recommend a 750i or 750a if youre tight on cash... has dual PCI-E 2.0 at x8 speeds

Re: WANTED: SLi Mobo

i'd say if you were to go with 750i over the 750a board. simply because of the 775 CPUs are better performing than their AMD counterparts of similar price range.

Re: WANTED: SLi Mobo

hi um u said that u were looking for a a sli motherboard and i have one that i am willing to sell u its brand new in the box and has never been used before and was just bought but i dont have the money for a processor its a ECS ELITEGROUP P45T-A motherboard this is a motherboad for serious gamers i couldnt afford to get the processor that would work for it. it is a socket lga 775 intel motherboard and has 2 pci expreess x16 slots and 4 memory slots has 8.1 dolby surround sound has gigabyte lan, it is a intel p45 chipset and is the black edition. this thing is sweet and for running sli keeps up at x16 running both slots unlike most that run 16 in one and 8 in the other. this is an insane botherboard let me knw if u want it

Are you saying there is an 'exclusivity' between boards that allow twin ATi cards, and boards that allow twin Nvidia?

WHY!? sounds a bit unfair to me.

The limitations were made by NVidia for SLI as far as I know you can run Crossfire on any mobo that has 2 x PCI-E slots. SLI only on NVidia chipsets unless you get into something expensive like the Skulltrail platform.

Remember this is the Buy/Sell forum does anyone have a mobo using an NV chipset in the range MGaz indicated?

Yep and in either of those cases a CPU and memory change would be needed from the current setup as mentioned already.

Re: WANTED: SLi Mobo

I do have a DFI nf4 SLI-D with A64 3500 I want to flog which will work with your current gear, but the best CPU u can get for it is (i think) a 4800x2, or the FX 60 both which will be decent for your gpu's but are too expensive to purchase making it completely not worth your time.

Your best bet is to move onto the am2/am2+ ddr2 world. sell those ddr1 sticks as they are still worth a bit, should cover the costs for 2gb of ddr2.

Re: WANTED: SLi Mobo

you really do want a dual core cpu to match the sli...
not sure what the cheapest option would be though. if sticking to ddr1 then the 3800x2 could be picked up for around £30-40 which is allot considering its age.

what brand is the 2gb sticks, coz if it's not generic cheap ram it can sell for quite a bit, enough to buy spanking new 4gb ddr2 sticks ! XD I sold my pair of low timing 2gb ddr1 ocz's last month for more than i brought them for almost 2 years ago! (~£55)

stupid question maybe, but would a P4 3.0Ghz hyperthreading CPU work on any of the newer motherboards? like maybe the EVGA nforce 780i SLI ?

Its just that i have a 3ghz p4 chip that was in my bros last/dead mobo.

If it fits I could use that on such a board while i save up for a better CPU. but i doubt it's compatable. Just throught i'd ask tho.

should actually work, most motherboards support all CPUs that can physically fit in their sockets up to the day they were introduced
