Cacheman will help improve the performance of Windows Standard IDE Controllers, especially win98. When I run PCPitstop without Cacheman and Norton on Uncached speed is horrible, 4.66mb/s which is only 72% as fast as other PC's (100% being average) with similar HD's. Install Cacheman and that jumps up to 6.17mb/s, 96%. As for the Cached speed with the Bartons 512 of cache and the good corsair memory I get 523.68mb/s 193% which would be almost twice as fast of similar systems. Turn Norton off and the cached speed jumps to 646.03mb/s 238%, 138% faster than the average system. Cached speed is the performance of the processor and memory where Uncached speed is mostly your hard drive and controller driver performance. I can sure tell it takes longer to load information from the hard drive to memory, but once in the memory its pretty dog gone fast from there!

Sorry dude, but I was replying to the guy that said win9x IDE drivers were crap. I just tried it in win2000 for the first time the other day with no problems.
