Optronix/Sapphire RS480SB400 BIOS Update?!

Hi here are 2 images below showing the details of my mobo and bios, i currently use a amd x2 3600+ dual core/3gb ram/8600gt 512mb GPU, 500w power supply, 2 ram writers, 2 IDE's and 1 sata hdd. Oh and a fair few fans lol.

Anyway, has anyone able to get a newer bios update to this? iv'e emailed the suckers which everest recommends and haven't received my reply yet, just a confirm code.

I have used clockgen to clock my CPU at 2.29ghz and my GPU is also overclocked.

Re: Optronix/Sapphire RS480SB400 BIOS Update?!

I'm having a hard time finding anything on this.

Why do you want to update the BIOS? I'm a firm believer that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Biosagent+ recommended via eSupport tells me that my BIOS is *BAD* and is over 2 years old and needs updating.

Maybe the bios update will allow overclocking, instead of hiding the options, or blanking them.

Anyway, i emailed eSupport and voiced my opinion, no fucking way am i paying just to get a bios update.

Anyway, i have clockgen, and it's overclocked my cpu/memory by 14%

Everest says this about any bios that is over 2 years old, even if there are no updates available. If it's running fine I wouldn't worry about it.

That may be a similar situation, if over a certain age it gets flaged with a warning of some sort. Do they define "bad" and say what's wrong with it? I just looked at their website and it looks like they just want to sell me something...... just an impression, never used them before.

Is everything running okay on your system?

yeah it runs fine, i just have to use software to overclock, also iv'e replied to them a iffy email saying its a discgace having to pay for a fucking bios update, when i click bad it just shows up the page with details of my own bios. It's bullshit, it's why iv'e gave them a harsh set of emails, they can go fuck themselves if they think i would pay for a bios update.

I'll admit that paying for a BIOS update is foolish but you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

If the board is running fine I wouldn't worry about.

Id still prefer to be up-to-date, I know my motherboard is a pile of dogshit, but i have to make do for a while since i prefer to spend all my money on my daughter

Looking forward to eSupports next email lol

The last one was a dig at me "customers get a bios update if available the very next day" < FULL OF SHITE.

Re: Optronix/Sapphire RS480SB400 BIOS Update?!

djdynamite123, I am sorry but from my experience Pheonix Tech. is no more supported bios version. My advice is, try to search driver base on www.driverguide.com (need registration), maybe you will find something newer there for your motherboard.

Best regards.

Re: Optronix/Sapphire RS480SB400 BIOS Update?!

Instead of all the "drama", why didn't you just go to Sapphire's site, and see if the IS a newer BIOS.

You can find that page here:
SAPPHIRE- HOME

I can't tell for sure, as Everest shows it as an RS480 at one place and an RX480 in another. In any case there IS a newer bios for both of those.

The one for the RS480 is: PP-A9RS480 BIOS(2K051104) dated Nov 21, 2005

The one for the RX480 is: PI-A9RX480 BIOS(2K060417) dated Apr 27, 2006

Even then those 'newer' BIOSs are more than 2 years old so you are still going to get the Everest "warning".
