??? Which is best Standard or SW Nvidia IDE Driver

HI

I need to know which driver is the best and what the difference in performance will be.

When installing the Nforce Nvidai drivers, you can install either the SW Ide driver or if you cancel the request the normal nforce mcp2 ide controller driver is loaded.

I have noticed that when using the SW driver, my pc takes alot longer too boot, this is under Win XP Pro.

Also the resources used are different when using the 2 version of drivers.

Standard driver will use IRQ 14 and 15

SW driver will use IRQ 5 wich it then shares with the onboard Sound chip.

So I really need to know which is the best driver to use, that will be give me best performance and stability.

Your info and help is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Jannie

I have an option of 3 drivers to choose from.

Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller (Microsoft Standard Driver)
Nvidia Nforce MCP2 IDE Controller DriverVer=05/13/2002,6.1.2600.0
NVIDIA® nForce(TM) IDE Controller DriverVer=11/13/2002,5.10.2600.0307

I am not using the versions Nvidai pulled from there Website, but the 1's that are supplied by the MB Manufacturer Install version 2.03

Thanks For helping, just need more clarification from you as too which driver you refer me to use.

Jannie

When I loaded the SW drivers, they put the fubar on my CDRW/burner (Liteon). I was no longer able to burn discs. Made a bunch of coasters before I figured out the source of the problem.

thanks guys for your help and info

I also read the readme file on the nvidia site on how and what to do to get rid of the 2.41 ect driver from your system.

In the readme they tell you to load the Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller supplied by MS .

Thanks again for the input.

Stil having 1 problem, but i will post this in a new string as it is not realted to this string.

Regards
Jannie
