Insane spaces
I think this comes under misc...
Lately at the earlier points of when my PC's starting up my key board throws a spaz attack with loads of spaces. It eventually calms down but not after it's got to an annoying stage (quite a while after Windows has finished loading). I've checked over the spacebar and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it (not sticking, no dust in there or anything) but it seems to be just in the earlier stages of my PC being turned on. Also, I have my PC on for the day (off overnight) and it's left for several hours, yet I don't have the problem when I return home. It's a Logitech G11 and I'm using Win7 Pro x64. Has anyone come across anything like this before?

Re: Insane spaces
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver? Sounds like something is funky when it initializes since you said it calms down after the initial start up.

Re: Insane spaces
I had an old Gateway branded USB keyboard that did this, but it didn't "settle down" and become usable after awhile......... I tried new drivers but that didn't fix the problem. Unfortunately I never did find a fix and considered it dead hardware ...... Hopefully yours is driver related or easily fixed.

Re: Insane spaces
You could try a different USB port to see if it is the port itself. Disabling and re-enabling the port may work but it's a long shot.

Re: Insane spaces
My experience with that sort of behavior usually is the result of something being spilled into the keyboard.

I've swapped the USB port this morning to see if that works. It didn't seem solid in there, which might explain it.

Re: Insane spaces
Well i'm thinking the same way everyone else is on this one....must be a faulty driver....if that doesn't fix it you have to chalk it up to faulty hardware I guess

Re: Insane spaces
I'm pretty sure it's either faulty Hardware or Bios settings.
Why? Cuz i's only at startup. Try having a different Keyboard, if it works, so you have it - the G11 is buggy. If is still doesn't work, it's a BIOS thingy. some mobos (Like mine) have too many BIOS settings, some of them are too advanced for current hardware and so turning them on/off changes the stablity of the PC, give it a Try. And of course, it COULD be a driver problem. Try going into the device manager and UnInstalling the device, restarting, and then reinstalling it. It should fix the problem. Cheers

Re: Insane spaces
Well I uninstalled the driver yesterday and I didn't have the problem when I turned on my PC this morning so I'm guessing it has something to do with the Logitech drivers. Very weird though that it was just spaces and nothing else.

Re: Insane spaces
You would be surprised what a bad driver can do.
I handle software and network support for Xerox and I see print jobs come out half assed backwards with a letterhead in the middle of the page, missing images, garbled text and random color spots because of a corrupt driver. Try reinstalling the driver again since that particular install is likely corrupt. If the problem comes back I would engage Logitech support. |

Re: Insane spaces
Optix - I would do but the only thing the official driver provides that the built-in doesn't is the G keys, which I don't really use. I got the keyboard for the design, feel and lack of paying for it (as it was a gift).
Thanks all for the replies anyway
