Hi everyone,
My network was setup about a month ago for file sharing among the five computers in my home. All these computers are on Windows 7 and everything was working fine until today..... We use my computer as the file server - with the pictures/movies/music storage and all the other computers access mine via the network. Now, today, the error: "WINDOWS CANNOT ACCESS \\ISAAK-PC\<insert shared folder name here>" I have checked all firewall options and checked that password protected sharing is turned off. Whats happened? I don't think I have changed any setting in the last day that would affect this??

Re: Network Access Issue
Yeah , I had issues similiar to these as well.
Try type "\\ISAAK-PC" in the Run command and see if it opens the shared folders or not. |

Re: Network Access Issue
start with a basic PING, see if the machines can ping each other!!

Re: Network Access Issue
understandable
first find out the ip-address of the machines ie, yours (server) [ for example lets say 1.1.1.1 and another machine that was trying to access your share! eg 1.1.1.2] how to ping from your machine 1) Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt 2) ping 1.1.1.2 if you get "Destination host unreachable". it either means that there is no connectivity between the two. ie. check the cables.... if you get "Reply from 1.1.1.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128" it means the the network connection is ok, so then check your settings network setting! try the same thing this time form the other machine ie ping 1.1.1.1 try ping other systems on the network, eidt: to find out your ipaddress, in the command prompt type "ipconfig"

Re: Network Access Issue
Ok, they both 'ping'ed each other fine. I'm not sure what setting I should be checking though - the folders are configured to share with everybody and password protected sharing is turned off.

This worked..I don't know what happened to the other folders, but I'll try 'unsharing' all folders and starting again as comp suggested. Thanks guys!

Re: Network Access Issue
You might need to reset your routers and access points, also check for spyware. My modem needing resetting today as it was causing a filure to connect to the internet through our network. Turning it off for ten seconds fixed it completely. If it doesn't work I don't know what else to try, just to double check settings or to re-establish a network setup on all of the computers you have.
