which amd cpu and mobo should i get

hey guys

Looking for a new mobo and cpu for the girl friend

I have limited choice between asus and gigbyte and under $200 australian

She only plays games on the internet so onboard graphics card will be enough

I,m just not sure which chipset and onboard graphics

Any thoughts would be grand....cheers

Have you already bought the CPU? If so, that will largely determine what type of board to get. From what you're saying, I assume a 775 or 1156 would do the job (1366 would definitely be overboard). If you have enough money left over, try looking into the cheap AMD/NVIDIA offerings for their respective video cards. The Radeon 5670, for instance, is below 100 dollars U.S. (not sure what that is in Australian currency). That might be overkill, but will last her a long time (DX 11, newest lineup from AMD, etc.).

Maybe a Phenom II x3, or Athlon II on a GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H.

For onboard graphics, I would say the AMD 785G would be your best option.

You could pick up a quad core Athlon II X4 620 for under $100. Assuming you aren't looking to run at 60 FPS in all games it will make a great little CPU. That chip plus a 785 board is a top notch budget build.
