Asus A7N8X Del. Rev. 2.

However, the Abit is a bit cheaper.

Abit has about the same features but the Asus board has more robust audio..however if they guy plans on using his sound card the Abit would be a more economical choice.

Oki, will have these advices in mind when shopping. Have now an Asus A7V8X and i love the layout of it. Have seen that the ASUS A7N8X has an somewhat similar layout. How does the ABIT mobo compare? Do u experience any problems with it?

Well as you can tell from what the majority has said here the ABIT is the way to go. The new Rev 2.0 has cleared up any problems that you may heard of with the earlier nf7-2 boards. I vote also for the ABIT!

And for those of you that don't need SATA, Firewire and Soundstorm you'd save 20$ and get the same overclocking features out of the NF7 (non S).

You people are making me cry!

What about MSI!?

The K7N2G-ILSR with onboard video/sound and sata/lan/firewire etc etc is a good card, isn't it? I'm about 48 hours away from buying that board with a barton 2500+ and 512mb of crucial ddr pc3200.

I decided to go for msi since i think my radeon 7500 all in wonder is causing my old machine to freeze up randomly, but I'm not sure, it benches just as fast as the Asus from roundups I've seen, but I've been debating asus vs msi for a week now.

Maybe some of you more knowledgable folk can help me decide once and for all, before I plop 200$ (The price dif. between the msi and asus is like 10$ where i'm getting it, and therefore neglegable, however I cannot afford a new video card...but i'm not even sure mines broke coulda been the processor or board which no longer post)

You can't go wrong with the Abit NF-S, it's the finest board I have ever used. As for the MSi, I wouldn't go for it if you plan to OC much.

I think I need something more than just 'Can't go wrong with Asus' heh..

Especially since the asus has no onboard video, which I may or may not need depending on my video card.

I don't know if I'm going to overclock the 2500 at all, it should be pretty fast as is for what I need

Like I said before, and I'll just say it again, if your GOING TO OVERCLOCK YOUR BARTON THEN GO FOR THE NF7-S, ffs, 10+ people in this thread said the NF7 is for overclocking, so GET IT, you dont need anymore opinions and why the fuck would you want onboard video? It's a geforcemx4 ffs, who the hell would want that?

ABIT NF7-S NO DOUBT DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone without a video card would want it. Because if I get it, then notice my system hanging with my radeon 7500 I'm going to be rather upset since my budget is about 500$ to start with.

Yes, the A7N8X does have a very similar layout but with one less PCI slot. Honestly, if you tell us what all your planning on using with your new board will help the matter greatly.

I´m planning on building a new computer with an Barton XP2500 , some OCZ Ram modules and i´ll be using Danger Den watercooling. That is why i wondered about the layout. But after read all your posts i can see that the majority of u recommends the Abit mobo.

If you are using water cooling then DO NOT get the Asus.... The ASUS only does 1.85v max on the cpu.
