Difference Asrock 790GX - 785G
Hi there,
Well I have a small question: What's the difference between the M3A790GXH/128M and the M3A785GXH/128M when it comes too a CF config? Pictures: M3A790GXH/128M ![]() M3A785GXH/128M ![]() They both state: 3 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (green @ x16 mode, blue @ x8 mode, orange @ x4 mode) I know that other 785G boards normally do a 16x/4x when you install two graphics cards (for Crossfire). The lanes for the red PCI-e slot from the ASrock 785G board are from the SB, but they say that the Green and Blue ones are from the NB. I think all the lanes from the slots from the 790GX board are from the NB. But that still doesn't really cover the case why you should choose the more expensive 790GX version. I don't think there's a huge difference in overclocking. (and oh boy, cosmetic you can't really see a difference. At least do another color for the NB and SB or so.. Bad ASrock, BAD! :P) |

Re: Difference Asrock 790GX - 785G
The 785 based board is better overall. Better onboard graphics, supports AM3 Phenom II X2s, and supports Raid 5. Even if none of that is useful, it makes both boards about the same (except that the 790 has a newer Realtek HD chip), so the 785 is still the better choice because it's cheaper.
Mind you, isn't the 785 the newer chipset? |

Re: Difference Asrock 790GX - 785G
785 boards usually use the Radeon 4200.
790 boards its the 3300. The 790 is clocked higher but the 785 has better features... UVD2, DX10.1 etc. |

Hehe, I know about the IGP, but still, what a small difference... ;(
@ Tipstaff Yes, 785 is newer, although it's just a 780G with a better IGP :P |
