I believe that it matchs you cpu temps to you fan speeds and adjust them to the temps

Q-fan is a built in option on asus mobos that read the processors temp from the die and ajust the fan speed to accomdate temps . say your processor is in idle and running cool well then q-fan lowers the speed of the fan accordingly ,same for when it gets hot only increases the fan speed.

NOTE: THE CPU FAN MUST BE PLUGED INTO THE PWR FAN HEADER FOR Q-FAN TO WORK plus enable q-fan in bios under advanced options
