Plasma 3D TV (Or LED)
Not quite computer related even if I'll be using it with my HTPC.
But, anyone got experience with this Samsung? 7-serien 3D Plasma-TV -en ny dimension i din tv-upplevelse PS50C7705 - Plasma-TV - TV | SAMSUNG I guess the standard version is the PS50C7000, the linked one is just a swedish version? Last edited by Liqourice; Sep 10, 2010 at 03:24 PM. |

Re: Plasma 3D TV
personally i'm not a fan of samsungs Plasma lineup..
they are "decent" tv's.... i'm sure their 3D tech is more then appropriate if it's as good as the lcd 3d tv they have.... which personally i'm not a fan of yet either.

Re: Plasma 3D TV
Well, since they didn't have any demo setup in the store I couldn't check the picture quality but up until now I haven't seen any LCD or LED that beats a good plasma.
I've seen Samsungs LED 3D and it was good, hadn't it been for the bloody jerky lag with fast movements. |

Re: Plasma 3D TV
Well, all LED's/LCD's I've seen have shown a bit of lag while the plasma's haven't.. I dunno...
My english might not be quite technical enough to describe what I mean. Afterglow... like it's not fast enough to update.. ALL LCD TV's I've seen do this. |

Re: Plasma 3D TV
the only lag/jerkiness i've seen with lcds is usually due to a setting or settings..
i know a panasonic tv that had a noise reduction filter that if enabled to auto... would cause this laggy/stutter jutter issues...... had to be set to low or medium... another thing i've seen is 120hz modes that can cause this.... most of it is when there is image interpolation occuring and the settings are adjusted in a manner that when the computer isn't able to keep up OR there is a sudden drop in frame rate from 48 fps down to 24 again for a few seconds... you really notice it...

Re: Plasma 3D TV
To bad I can't just take one home and try it out. I guess tv's in stores aren't the best to go by but to me it still seems like plasmas are better generally.

Re: Plasma 3D TV
Considering i work in the very business... and have been able to talk with people that are indeed in the business and have for years.. as well as some of the ones that work in the very stores most people frequent now such as futureshop and bestbuy and so forth..
TVs are generally NEVER setup in these places very well.. Quite often they will purposely adjust tvs to make others look better just to push a sale.. I'm even aware of such companies putting a sale on for a tv... then purposely screwing with it to make it look kinda terrible sitting beside a slightly more expensive model just to make customers go "that's a great deal.. but this one looks better and only costs an additional 200 bucks more" or whatever.. It's called "business" to these companies usually... Personally it's a gauddamn shame.... playing with peoples minds and screwing with the system.... no form of trust... I walk into those stores... and i'll start checking out a tv and when i do.. i grab the remote or start adjusting the settings... usually first thing i do is reset them to factory default.. and then start playing.. You have any idea how many places i've been asked to leave? lol (BANNED from stores)

Re: Plasma 3D TV
I know this, that's why I'm asking if my notion is correct or not. Problem is, most stores around here don't have the remotes accessible so I can't do anything.
Next problem is, the place where they are really the cheapest they don't have any samples set up at all, just the boxes on the middle of the floor. That's why they're cheap.

keep in mind that a model of for example SAMSUNG tv's or other eletronics or devices available at wal-mart..... are NOT the same in any way as the "identical" model available at quality retail stores.... it's deceiving.. but unfortuneately....... it's done Also... what stores don't allow you access to the remote.. if your a buying customer.... ask for it.. you have every right to fiddle and fart around with a tv as long as you wish to know it's ins and outs....

Re: Plasma 3D TV
All the small stores are gone, only the big chains are left with their walls of TV's. To many remotes to keep track of and to many thefts. What on earth they'd want a remote they can't use anyway is beyond me but who ever said thieves are smart?
I know about the different models in different chains, that's why I want to see it in action before I buy it. |

Re: Plasma 3D TV
Ok.. I've been off and on about this, deciding between LED or Plasma.
Now I've found this and it seems ok when looking at the specs. It's a bitt smaller than I wanted but it's big enough. I know it's in swedish but I hope you all can figure out what's what anyway. Will this be a good buy? 7-serien 3D LED-TV- upplev en ny dimension i din tv-upplevelse UE40C7705 - LED-TV - TV | SAMSUNG If I hear nothing to negative about it I'll go get it this weekend. |

Re: Plasma 3D TV
I've been weighing 3D or not 3D but I figured what the heck.. it'll cost twice as much but who knows if I can afford a new tv in one or two years. Might as well get it while I can!

Re: Plasma 3D TV
The question is, how much of a problem is the clouding on these? That's why I preferred a Plasma because clouding is less of an issue on those, but the plasma 3D HDTV's cost so much more than the LED ones. I find that strange since the non 3D plasmas are cheaper than the comparable LED's.

Re: Plasma 3D TV
far as i understand.. it's a little more difficult to get the 3d effect.. that's why it was done with lcds first..
As for clouding.... This is one reason i don't sell any led tv's aside from the 9 series Samsung .. the 10/11/12 series uses a thin display for them... the LED lights are instead on the "sides" rather then independantly behind each set of pixels like the 9 series.... so clouding issues are very prevailent on the 10/11/12 series LCD/LED displays.. Now i beleive if i recall correctly, the 3D tv's are based on the 10/11/12 series lcd/led tvs... so They have the same clouding issues... However i must say.. after sitting and watching the 3D tvs...even under black conditions in a unlit room.... the blacks are pretty good and the clouding wasn't noticeable.... But it's another matter for one you get out of the box after purchasing and setting up in your own home... I would like to get a 3D tv to actually setup and play around with for days on end to really get to know them... but unfortunately..... the demand for them is utterly zero .. mostly due to requiring the use of glasses.

Re: Plasma 3D TV
I just thought about something here.
To have 3D working you need HDMI 1.4, right? Since there's no AMD/ATI card that does yet then there's no point in getting a 3D TV because I won't get a BR player as well as building a HTPC. And no, I won't get a nvidia card.. |
