Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
Hallo again and thanks for your so fast reply.
I downloaded this version 1.2e already before and used Winflash. Only WinFlash said that the Bios is too big. In the Award Flash Utility I found an Application 'AWD865'. What do I have to do with that? Do I have to use it before using WinFlash? |

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
AWD865 is the DOS app to flash the BIOS.

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
Hi SIMONW, thanks a lot for this good advice. I found only a Bios 1.2e on the ECS Web site, but this came down as an .exe ( m8m2318.exe) not as .bin
Since I am not very familiar with DOS would my input then be: A\:> AWD865 m8m2318.exe /cc/cd/cp Kindly confirm. Thanks |

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
No, you need to extract the *.bin first. The *.exe should be a self extracting archive.

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
Hi ,
I followed the example given by simonw, only that WinXP allows me only to Quick Format and Create an MS-DOS startup disk. After adding Bios Flash Utility and Bios to it the following files were on the Floppy: AWD865.exe DISPLAY.SYS EGA2.CPI EGA3.CPI EGA.CPI KEYB.COM KEYBOARD.SYS KEYBRD2.SYS KEYBRD3.SYS KEYBRD4.SYS m8m2318.BIN MODE.COM Booting from the Floppy produced the following message: The following file is missing or corrupted: COMMAND.COM Type the name of the Command Interperter (e.g., C:\Windows\COMMAND.COM) A:\> Even doing this I get stuck with the same message again and again after pressing 'Enter' So far I could not find any solution to this. Please help |

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
Ok, I settled the former problem with 'COMMAND.COM'. I changed the Bios Jumper Protection settings, started from the Floppy and entered
A:\> AWD865 m8m2318.bin /cc/cd/cp but at File Name to Program : m8m2318.bin_ it showed only 'Please Wait!' , no further progress. Please who can help? |

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
I just want to double-check when you used the WinFlash first, did you already change the BIOS jumper settings previously? It might be worth a second try, especially if the DOS app is not working.
Besides that, I don't really have any more ideas, you could try the ECS Technical Support: ECS Web Site |

Re: Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG UPDATE PLEASE
A big thanks to everybody who tried to help me. In the end it was very easy to do with WinFlash: the extacted '.bin' had to be used and not the '.exe' of the Bios update. Moreover I found out that the Bios-Protection-Jumper was set in the wrong position by the original 'specialist' due to a poor description in the manual. So thanks again!
