performance loss with western digital/corsair upgrade
Hello all,.I recently got a WD caviar 8meg cache 80gig Hd to replace an old ibm 40 gig. And i upgraded 512megs of generic pc2100 ram to two sticks of Corsair cmx512-3200c2. I wasn't expecting any miracles,.but it seems like my system isn't any faster at all. Wierd as it may sound,.since im on a computer pretty much all day I can "feel" the performance of a system. But the hard evidence is FPS in raven shield and vietcong went down a bit. 3dmark03 went up around 80-100 points. Harddrive seems to get hit alot more even though i now have a gig of ram,.even with no swap file. I'm sure it's something i didnt set right somewhere.
System Specs: Win XP Pro SP1 A7n8x deluxe 1005 bios Antec true 480 PS Barton 2500+ oc'd 3200+ 200fsb(got lucky there) 1gig corsair 3200c2 ram 7-3-3 Western Digital 80gig special edition Radeon 9700 pro 344/324 Omega Drivers using onboard sound DirectX 9.0a 3dmark03 5312 |

Hello,.yeah i have dual cjanel running now,.and both are at 200 fsb. Stil think i should have better performance from just the memory alone. But from what another poster said,.this new harddrive isnt that much faster than my old one,.only difference is the 8meg cache as opposed to the 2meg of the IBM.
