error 10 in wireless setup
Currently installed a TP-Link 951n wireless. After doing a registry clean, the wireless icon disappeared from the tray (will never touch registry again). Did not have original disc for instal, so downloaded drivers from TP-Link site. The driver would not instal as the message "device not found" came up. Looking in Device Manager, the code 10 error came up. Of course, could not troubleshoot as no internet (talk about going in circles). So I decided to do a complete clean re-instal of windows Xp and formatted the HD at the same time. I removed the wireless card from the pci slot before re-instal. Put card back in after re-instal of winxp and installed wireless with the downloaded drivers. After this, I created several restore points. All worked ok for a few days except, last night, after a windows update installed, my wireless was gone again. Error code 10 again. Restoring from a previous version did no solve the issue.
Wondering if this may be the problem - I have a licensed version of winxp but the unit was purchased in the Spring of 2007 and the disc only had SP2 on it. I downloaded SP3 and installed that over SP2. Is it possible that there may have been an update to SP2 that I failed to instal?
If not, any other suggestion or ideas you may have would be appreciated.
