Re: Where is my BIOS chip?
Looks to me from the pictures online (which i assume are the final/production boards) that there are no removable chips on your board, everything is hard soldered on there.
Have you tried all the normal troubleshooting methods, such as clearing the CMOS. Trying to boot with just one stick of memory installed, etc? EDIT: Just found an alternate pic where the BIOS is there and removable... its the chip underneath the ITE branded one. Top right of the board between the memory sticks and the black IDE connector. Its installed ina brown square-ish socket and usually tweasers will get it out. (Though the best option is thorough troubleshooting first if you havent already) |

Re: Where is my BIOS chip?
seems I have the one that is soldered on....
I was attempting to update the bios and when I next rebooted I got fans, power, etc. but nothing on the screen. Pressing F10 does nothing. |

Re: Where is my BIOS chip?
BIOS Recovery Guide - www.sysopt.com
This is a guide to recovering a failed BIOS. It's likely though that the device is bricked. If I was in your position I would type in the model number on eBay on the off chance that someone is selling their old motherboard. |

Re: Where is my BIOS chip?
actually i wouldn't generally recommend replace the board with the exact same thing unless i had utterly no choice..
i'd invest a little bit of research into finding a model from asus/msi/gigabyte that has nearly identical specs and such and maybe picking on them up. OR take the little bit of cash you got and try and swing a cpu/motherboard/ram solution and pair it all up with excisting hardware... IF it works (HP among all other prebuilders are well known for making a case with non-standard motherboard mounts.. so take that into consideration as well) I have an HP machine here with a slimline motherboard that uses a non-standard ATX mini power adapter THAT i can't seem to pick up... not even the mini end without it being a total pain in the ass.. all due to hp own stupid design... i ended up finding a motherboard CHEAPER from MSI then it would be to get the proper adapter SHIPPED to me...

Re: Where is my BIOS chip?
Well considering this is an AM2+ board, depending on your CPU you may be able to get an AM3+ board with DDR3 using the 880G chipset for a little more than replacing that board you are replacing that and the GPU on the 880g is better than the on the 6150 chipset. Only issue you may run into is support for the chassis (if the power/reset/LED connections are bound together), but if you are a hands on type you can break them apart and make it work.
Oh and some 880G boards are AM2+ (DDR2 memory). DDR3 support is available for AMD chips with the Athlon II and Phenom II names along with certain Sempron chips Models Sempron 130/140/145/150/180.
