Asus Mobo RAM Compatibility

Hey everyone,
I've an Asus M4A89GTD PRO USB3 board. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this board is compatible with-
8gb of Corsair Vengeance PC12800 DDR3 RAM - 1600MHz, 2x4096MB, Non-ECC, Unbuffered.

Now i checked the board's qualified vendor list, and it's not listed. Although, I figure that the list is fairly old, it does say you can install 4gb unbuffered non-ecc dimms.

I ask this question because I've heard about problems with memory on this board, although it generally has good reviews.

Re: Asus Mobo RAM Compatibility

Personally i haven't rarely if ever used any qualitified ram on any of my motherboards... as you said... the list is old..... so who knows.

Corsair/patriot/kingston... the list goes on all follow Standards and rules... they had the jdec spd and other such preconfigured spd settings programmed into them.

While i personally have had issues with corsair where others have had nothing but good things..... they should work perfectly fine.

Re: Asus Mobo RAM Compatibility

Yeah, I only ask because I'm building a pc for my sis and a friend offered me an unopened 8gig pack for $30, which is less than half the price from what I've seen anywhere else.

I think I will take your advise and go for it. Seems like too good of a deal to pass up for me.
