I've always preferred "office" equipment to gaming stuff, even for gaming. All gaming keyboards have far too long key travel for my taste, as well, typically, as keys that feel somewhat flimsily attached and very light chassis.

I'm also a big fan of Microsoft's basic office mouse - having been in a few educational establishments that use them, I can testify to their indestructibility :P

yeah it's weird how quite often when a customer has demanded a "gaming" or "enthusiasts" keyboard/mouse.... they seem to break easily, meanwhile the Elcheapo keyboards and mice from Logitech seem to take a beating and keep on running... some have been smashed so badly that the buttons aren't straight and broken yet still work...

Yet the significantly more expensive Logitech equipment seems to be unwilling to take even a single or few drops.. My old Microsoft keyboard quit working because i had busted the wire, even though i had even stomped on it a few times (used it by the couch and woke up and got up quick only to realize i had crushed it a bit.... didn't even crack a key... lol)

I was reading somewhere that you would be able to use the 1366 coolers for the socket 2011 boards. Is this true?

I highly doubt that.... not without a "changeover"... many companies provide the option to get a replacement socket specific mounting plate..

As for the standard coolers or other such things.... i'm fairly certain it'll be different, the whole placement and everything... if a socket 1366 heatsinkdoesn't work with a 1156/1155 socket (and vice versa) layout which is only a mear 210/211 pin difference in "size".... a 645 pin difference and size definitely going to mess all that up..

I mean you can basically fit 2x of the 1155's in the same general area. That's pretty huge.

Top it off there is already going to be some issues with clearances on the now left size of the cpu instead of being overly concerned about the right side.. due to the memory being evenly split by the cpu to better centralize it.

Worse yet, i think if you have already a limited amount of space in your case, there might be some unhappy people with oversized heatsinks that won't work due to the relatively considerably shift to the right for the cpu... putting it closers to the drive bays and potentially in the way.

Frankly.... who knows...

But i can't wait to get my feelers out for even just a board to take a good look at ... something i can touch.

This is one of the reasons why I like ASRock. Some of their 1155 motherboards and 1366 motherboards have extra holes for 775 heatsinks. However, the benefit of the native HSFs is that the bottom of the heatsink completely covers the larger processor.
For example, the 1366 processors are noticeably smaller than 775; a 775 HSF will completely cover a 1366 processor.

The new 2011 socket looks huge so I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't fit a 1366 HSF on it unless you had an adapter.

I've found out something interesting about the Corsair Hydro Coolers. They all come ready for the 2011 socket. I have the origional H70 when they sold it with two 120mm fans. I've found out you can buy an adapter from Corsair that will work on the socket 2011 for either the H50 or the H70. Just thought you guys might like to know.
