I'm chasing through all the posts here, but my problem is my system is a eMachine W3644 and I'm in need of the usual Award Bios Type-Phoenix-Award Workstation Bios V6.00 PG. It's the MCP61 series # 774G1P08E. I'm really hoping someone out there has the correct update? I would be most greatful!

The only place that can supply a BIOS update would be the equipment manufacturer, in your case eMachines. If they don't have one then unfortunately you're out of luck with that.

Phoenix-Award only supply the basic code for bios,So looking there will not work at all.These are sent to the maufacturers to add the essentials for the motherboard to work.

And going by eMachines Support Page and the system you have mentioned there is NO Available Bios Updates.

So there is nothing to update...

Is there a reason you need a bios update?

I don't think so...

Normally Pre-Built system bios don't contain enough options required for overclocking...

And to add if anyone looks at the link,the PC is quite old and the latest eMachince drivers are dated back in 2009.And yes they can be updated else where....

I just think he just wants to update the bios for a new cpu upgrade to gain life... Maybe ?

Again Pre-built pc's are normally sold maxed out to begin with...

Only the OP can give a reason to why he wants the Bios.

you can sometimes get lucky by figuring out what emachine used for the referrence motherboard.

i've done successful yet VERY DANGEROUS and sometimes failing flashes on motherboards that were of another manufacturers.

For example i had an emachine here that used majority of the same components that were present on the built by intel motherboard. I had to confirm most of all the same basic referrence designs and such and then determine if they all mostly matched up. At that point i was able to download intels bios update for one of their own boards that were as similare as possible. I forced the bios flash manually (Because prior it wouldn't work due to board mismatch and so forth)....

After the flash, i was greeted with the latest intel bios working, all the unlocked fuctions the intel bios provided, and the necessary update to plug in a newer CPU and a bonus was being able to install ram that wouldn't work prior or exceeded the orginal motherboard specs (limited to 2gb on the board as it wouldn't recognize anything larger then the 1gb DDR2 modules)... so now i got the machine runnning 4gb.. AND at a faster speed then the emachines limited PC4200 locked settings provided. (got it up to PC5300/5400 speeds).

I've killed 2 boards trying to do the same thing...

But i've managed to do it on OLDER boards.... a much older board using the Pentium 2 and chipset... can't remember the brand name or the board.. but basically the same thing... got it to take a PIII afterwards, and increased it's ram from 384mb to 1.5gb.

If it's an AMD board... i haven't had any luck with that... Only seems to be possible with as close to referrence Intel boards.

Although i've been trying my luck at trying to flash Asus/Asrock bioses on manufacturer Modified Asus/asrock boards. I think i got one stable... but it really didn't like it at first.

Should not pick on the new guy! Yes, it's an older system, but it still get's the job done! I'm just tired of looking at my system program and it keeps telling me it's in need of updating. As for eMachines, useless! Gateway, the motherboard, useless. I'll just work around it is all. I'm building a new one on my own to help keep the time going by. I'm refurbishing older units and giving them to the families who can't get their own. You have to admit we all shell out some big bucks to have nice systems! A lot just so they can play games! Sorry gamers! Thanks for the comments though, and this site still rocks!

You asked for a little advice and this is what you have received.Just helping you out and nothing more than that...

We are not critising your pc you are currently using,I were just stating the eMachines drivers are dated and many of the More Updated drivers could be found online elsewhere other than eMachines...

I were just a little curiuos to why you wanted the Bios Update....

I have been in a position once before after flashing my current pc,Just to find that the Bios update did not support the latest set of Nvidia GT460 or upwards which made my pc fail to boot up.

So if there is no problems with the bios it is best to leave it alone.
