Asrock p67 extreme4gen3 issues!!

Hi!! I build up new rig!Connected wires, hardware and everything seems to be fine but when I start up there is no beep sound and yet it goes to bios normally and detects all hardware,Is that normal on this board?

Second problem when I dont go to bios it says "there is no boot device" which is normal because than you go to bios and put your dvd as first boot, put OS dvd and go for fresh install but when I do that nothing happens like it doesnt read the dvd and again it says there is no boot device. What might it be,what should I try???

Re: Asrock p67 extreme4gen3 issues!!

I tried cd-with OS on another pc and it boots fine!!
So it could be optical drive going wrong or hard drive or maybe sata ports.
In bios there are both visible dvd drive and hdd. Dont know, gona try unplug one by one, maybe because of that there is no beep sound from the board??

So,advice anyone!

If it's Windows 7 (or Vista...) I'd try putting the installation files on a USB stick. Installing from USB is generally faster too.
There are some guides out there:

Hard to say, maybe the DVD doesn't work well with that particular motherboard although that's unusual. You can test it more after having installed Windows.

Re: Asrock p67 extreme4gen3 issues!!

I myself in the last 10 days have just built a new computer with a 2600k and Asrock Extreme4 Gen3 motherboard. I had a similar problem installing windows and the board not recognizing my SSD or my optical.

On page 42 of the OM that comes with the Asrock board it says that if your HDD or SSD does not use the NCQ Function that under the Advanced tab Sata Configuration set the SATA mode to IDE and if your HHD or SSD use the NCQ Function set NCQ Funtion to AHCI.

I forgot to mention the above is only if you are installing Vista or Win 7 64-bit.

Hope this helps.

Also a possibility is that you install windows XP and after a clean install of windows XP you copy the setup files of the DVD from windows 7 to a usb and install it over your XP install.
