Phoenix-Technologies Bios

Is there a Bios update for Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.00PG?

I ran biosupdate found on the phoenix-technologies website and it says my bios are out of date but I am not looking to spend $40+ on a program that automatically updates it for me if theres a simpler solution to be found.

Re: Phoenix-Technologies Bios

The only possible place to get an update for your BIOS is through your Motherboard manufacturer or system builder (in the case of a Dell, HP, etc.) It also has to be for your exact board, model and revision. If they don't have one, you can't get one.

Not even the automatic update deals work, that's a come on to steal your money, don't fall for it.

Take notice of TY's Post Above..

And to add Never Ever Buy a Update Program,Most companies who sell these tell you how good they are to start with but afterwards most programs never live up to the claims.

Why pay for some software when ALL Updates including Bios Updates can be download for Free.

Me too!

I'm having difficulty with a SATA drive I have bought and I want to make sure that the old motherboard can cope before looking at the drive.

Mine is in a Phillips MT1400 PC
Windows XP Media Centre Edition
Board: SIS-661
Chipset SIS 661FX rev 1.1 (board says 661FX-M7)
LPC10 1TE 178705

BIOS Phoenix Technolgies Ltd
V 6.00PG 22/9/05

09/22/2005-SIS-661-6A7I4E1AC-00-NONE

I flashed the bios on my very old machine - it was a little hairy.
Is it easier nowadays?

Thanks in advance

REGUK

Hi REGUK!

Did you read the post above?

Anyway your problem seems not to be BIOS related at all. Mostly the issue is in the SATA drivers or the mode where the SATA drive is configured. As you are using older chipset I recommend that you put your drive to SATA I mode.

Yep, that's why I wanted to add to the conversation. If the original poster has now got a fix I'd be pleased to find out. Phoenix just direct me to someone who wants me to part with the cash.

How do I put the drive into SATA 1 mode?

I've run the seaget diagnostics tool from DOS on start up and it fails every test!

I also plugges the SATA drive into a USB caddy (windows is now freezing on boot up if the drive is installed) and the windows seagate disk utility fails it.

Re: Phoenix-Technologies Bios

That sounds more like a HD problem. Does it work on other systems?

Re: Phoenix-Technologies Bios

On side not Phoenix only does tha basic bios core and the OEM's makes the rest of it. So you need to contact the OEM for bios updates. Since they make the final version of the bios and it will only work with the mobo that it was customizied to.
