Default Post Looking for a new scanners

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new scanner. I currently have a Snapscan 1212p from Agfa. I hate the fact that its parallel and I'm also not that impressed with the scanning software, Scanwise. Ideally I would like something that uses USB or 1394 and is from a respectible manufacturer. One thing I didn't like about Agfa is that they stopped supporting my current scanner less than a year after I bought it. Wouldn't even do a proper Win2k driver for it. I'm not nutty about resolution and obviously price is a concern. Don't want to spend more than $300.

I've always like the Visioneer Scanners...decent prices and scans very well.

I also would recommend a Visioneer or an HP scanner.

I don't know about Visioneer but HP's is so-so. I would recommend just doing it through Paint Shop Pro or Adobe if you have them. It is more handy that way.

The software would cost more than the scanner. Anyway these packages are too complicated for a hack like me to use.

I looked at the Visioneers and having USB 2.0 support if pretty good. Need to find some place in Canada that sells them though.

Paint Shop Pro is very easy to use. While Adobe is a bit more complicated. Seeing as though you don't have either than I can understand your point. Good luck with your choice, I hope you like it!
